Fatal Fountain Valley Hit-and-Run Collision

Theodore Antolin, 30, was killed in a Fountain Valley car accident, which officials say, involved two hit-and-run drivers.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, police found Antolin lying in the southbound lanes of Brookhurst Street with traumatic injuries early morning on April 8, 2015. Video surveillance showed that Antolin was crossing Brookhurst between La Hacienda and La Alameda avenues when a driver in a silver SUV, who was southbound on Brookhurst,

struck the pedestrian and did not stop.

Moments later, a driver in a white sedan, also traveling south on Brookhurst, struck Antolin, who was in the roadway. That driver also did not stop to help the victim. Both drivers were last seen heading south on Brookhurst. Police are asking them to come forward.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has more information is asked to contact Fountain Valley police at 714-593-4484. The investigation is ongoing.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to everyone who knew and loved Theodore Antolin. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Leaving the Scene of a Crash

Based on this news report, it appears that the pedestrian was crossing the street mid-block when he was struck. Not one but two drivers struck the victim and left the scene without even stopping to help the fallen man.

Outrageous!

Leaving the scene of an injury crash is inhumane, irresponsible and illegal. Under California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a), leaving the scene of an injury or fatal crash is against the law, regardless of whose fault the accident may have been.

Motorists are required to stop immediately, wait for authorities to arrive, exchange information with all parties involved and most importantly, help the injured victim get medical attention. It could be something as simple as calling 911. In this case, the first motorist left the victim lying in the roadway.

This left him exposed to further harm and the victim ended up getting hit again by the second vehicle.
