A 44-year-old man was fatally injured in a motorcycle accident in Chino Hills at a shopping center. According to a KTLA news report, the fatal accident occurred on the morning of June 19 near Chino Hills Parkway and Pipeline Avenue. Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Deputies determined that the motorcycle was traveling north on Chino Hills Parkway from Pipeline Avenue when a vehicle exited a nearby shopping center and collided with the motorcycle. No other information was released. No arrests or citations were reported. Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies at 909-477-2800. The investigation is ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family members of the deceased motorcyclist. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Ongoing Investigation and Liability Issues

Under California law, drivers pulling out of public or private driveways must yield the right of way to pedestrians and oncoming vehicles. According to California Vehicle Code Section 21804 (a): “The driver of any vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from any public or private property, or from an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic.” Vehicles entering traffic “shall continue to yield the right-of-way to that traffic until he or she can proceed with reasonable safety.”

In this particular case, there are a number of unanswered questions. Was the driver of the vehicle impaired at the time of the crash? Was he or she distracted? Was the driver acting in a reckless or negligent manner? If an investigation determines that the driver was negligent, he or she can be held liable for the victim’s wrongful death.

When a vehicle strikes a motorcycle, it is likely to result in catastrophic or fatal injuries for the motorcyclist, in most cases. Families of deceased motorcycle accident victims may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking compensation for damages such as medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income, pain and suffering, and loss of love, care, and companionship. An experienced San Bernardino County motorcycle accident lawyer will be able to help victims’ families navigate the process and secure maximum compensation for their tremendous losses.
