Officials Say Fatal Orange County Motorcycle Accident is One of the Worst They Have Seen

Four people were killed in a fatal head-on motorcycle accident in the Modjeska Canyon area of Orange County on July 7. CBS Los Angeles identifies the four riders who died in this horrific crash as Regina Michelle Crowder, 48, of Fountain Valley; Jon Michael Schwarz, 50, of Tustin; David Mark Terman, 59, of Santa Ana; and Edith Mae Hegy, 62, of Elko, Nevada.

The accident reportedly occurred when a Harley Davidson motorcycle carrying two people on East Santiago Canyon Road swerved into oncoming traffic on a blind curve to get round a car. It slammed into a Honda motorcycle heading in the opposite direction. California Highway Patrol officials said it’s the worst motorcycle crash they’ve seen in a while. Neighbors say the road is very popular with motorcyclists because riders enjoy long stretches of roadways without traffic lights or stop signs. There are several warnings posted on the road because of the prior deadly collisions.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family members and friends of the deceased. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
