A woman was fatally struck and injured in a pedestrian accident in Lancaster, which officials say was the second vehicle versus pedestrian incident in five days in the area. According to the Antelope Valley Press, the collision occurred the evening of Jan. 10 on 20th Street West, south of Avenue I. Preliminary investigations show that a man driving a Ford Escape was traveling north on 20th Street West when he struck the pedestrian. She was walking across 20th Street West. Paramedics who responded to the callout pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Officials are still investigating the cause of this crash. They say speed does not appear to be a factor. Police said the driver of the Ford did not appear to be under the influence.
