Three Injured in Anaheim Chain Reaction Crash

A car barreled into the scene of a relatively minor traffic accident in Anaheim on Nov. 16, initiating a chain reaction collision that sent three men to the hospital with injuries. According to a news report in the Orange County Register, police were called to the 200 block of Brookhurst Street where a BMW SUV rear-ended an Acura MDX in the middle southbound lane.

Injuries Sustained

Two officers were standing outside the stooped SUVs inspecting the crash scene with the drivers when a Honda Civic slammed into the back of the BMW, striking one of the drivers and one of the police officers. In a cellphone video shared by a news videographer, there are two stalled cars in the road and two men walking in between them when the blue Honda Civic slams into the back of the vehicle pushing it forward toward the men. Both were transported to an area hospital.

The officer suffered a broken leg. The Honda’s driver also sustained relatively minor injuries, officials said. All three were released from the hospital, but the injured officer will need more time to heal before he returns to duty, police said. Based on preliminary investigations, it doesn’t appear that alcohol or drugs played a part in these crashes, officials said.

We are relieved to note that none of the injured individuals suffered major injuries in this crash. We wish them the very best for a quick and full recovery.

Causes and Compensation Issues

Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Honda crashed into a car accident investigation scene. While officials say the incident did not involve alcohol or drugs, it’s not quite clear why the driver of the Honda caused the crash. Was he distracted at the time? Was he traveling at an unsafe or excessive rate of speed? Was he negligent in some other way? We trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine precisely what occurred here.

In such cases, injured car accident victims can seek compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost income, hospitalization, cost of rehabilitation, permanent injuries, disabilities, pain and suffering and emotional distress. An experienced Anaheim car accident attorney will be able to examine all aspects of the case and help ensure that victims receive fair and full compensation for their losses.
