A woman suffered injuries in an Anaheim pedestrian accident, which officials said, involved a hit and run driver.
According to a City News Service report, the collision occurred on Feb. 10 when the woman was walking in a marked crosswalk in the area of West La Palma Avenue and Brookhurst Street near the 5 Freeway. Police said a Jeep being driven west on La Palma Avenue struck her.
Ongoing Investigation
The driver fled the scene after the crash. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment with what were described as “moderate” injuries. The Jeep was described as being army or camouflage green and appeared to be an off-road vehicle. The driver was described as a man in his late 20s to early 30s with a bald head and full beard. Anyone with information on the collision is urged to call Anaheim police at 714-765-1577.
It is indeed fortunate that the pedestrian, in this case, did not suffer life-threatening injuries. We wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.
Violation of Laws
Based on this news report, it appears that the driver of the Jeep not only struck and injured the pedestrian who was walking in a marked crosswalk but also left the scene of an injury accident. Under California Vehicle Code Section 21950 (a), motorists are required to stop and yield the right of way to pedestrians who are walking in marked crosswalks. California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) requires all drivers involved in an injury or fatal collision to stop immediately, wait until officials arrive, exchange information with other parties, and render aid to the injured victims.
In such cases, injured victims often struggle to face medical expenses and other unforeseen costs as the at-fault driver is not identified. Hit and run victims also struggle to emotionally deal with the fact that the at-fault driver has not been apprehended and held accountable. In such cases, it would be in the best interest of injured victims to contact an experienced Anaheim car accident lawyer who will stay abreast of the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.
