Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Boyle Heights that left a bicyclist severely injured. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, tips from the public led to the arrest of Luis Raya-Flores who police say struck and injured a bicyclist and fled the scene. The incident occurred the night of Aug. 22. The bicyclist was traveling east on Whittier Boulevard near Calzona Street when a white pickup truck crossed the center divider into oncoming traffic and hit the bicyclist head on. Anthony Alexander Morales Perez, 19, was killed in a bicycle accident in Baldwin Park. According to a news report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, police officers responded to the crash on Los Angeles Street west of Bresee Avenue the night of July 4. Police are asking for the public’s help to apprehend a hit-and-run driver who they say struck and injured a bicyclist in Simi Valley earlier this month. According to a KTLA news report, Simi Valley police have released video footage of the incident where the vehicle can be seen striking the bicyclist and then leaving the scene of the accident. Bryan Lembke, 39, died Nov. 11, days after he suffered critical injuries in a Long Beach bicycle accident. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred on Nov. 7 when Lembke was rear-ended while biking westbound in the third lane of Spring Street near the 605 Freeway. The driver, a 53-year-old Cypress man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No arrests or citations have been reported yet. Mike Kreza, a Costa Mesa Fire Captain, has been critically injured after being struck by a driver in Mission Viejo the morning of Nov. 3. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the bicycle accident occurred on Alicia Parkway near Via Burgos. When Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, they found Kreza lying in the roadway. He was unresponsive with visible head and body trauma. A bicyclist was struck and killed in a Van Nuys hit and run accident early morning Nov. 1. According to a City News Service report, the hit-and-run driver was later apprehended and taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. A man was killed in a bicycle accident in Lancaster the morning of Aug. 25. According to a KTLA news report, the deadly collision occurred along Avenue K east of Stanridge Avenue. Preliminary investigations show that the bicyclist was riding west on Avenue K in the bicycle lane, when a man was driving a vehicle westbound as well. A 33-year-old woman was arrested after she left the scene of a Costa Mesa car accident that resulted in injuries to a bicyclist. According to a KTLA news report, Pratiti Renee Mehta, 33, has been charged with felony hit and run resulting in injury. Her arrest came after details about the incident were posted to social media, police officials said.
