According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Empire Street in Anaheim, the afternoon of January 12, 2012. Officials say the bicyclist, a man in his 40s, was pinned under the bus. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A bicyclist suffered serious injuries in a Fountain Valley car accident after he was caught in a collision between two SUVs. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred the afternoon of January 11, 2012 at the intersection of Bushard Street and Talbert Avenue. Investigators say the two SUVs crashed at the intersection. One of the SUVs then veered off the roadway and struck the 29-year-old Huntington Beach man, who was waiting at a corner for the traffic lights to change. The bicyclist sustained severe injuries, but is expected to survive. Officials are still looking into the cause of the initial collision between the two SUVs.

According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of L Street at 25th Street in Sherman Heights, the afternoon of December 4, 2011. Officials say the young bicyclist turned at the intersection when a Honda Civic, driven by a 40-year-old man, hit him. The city of Burbank has a growing concern regarding bicycle accidents and personal injury in the city. Based on the number of complaints from the public, police are worried that the increase is in part a result of cyclist behavior, such as running red lights. This isn’t the only cause of the accidents as motorists are responsible for many as well, but regardless, there is a problem and it needs to be addressed.

Over the last two years, the number of bicycle accidents has skyrocketed. Through October of this year, police have responded to 32 injury bike collisions – more than in all of 2007, when there were 24, and nearly as many as the 33 reported in 2008, Lt. J.J. Puglisi said.

Margaret Conway, 21, was killed in an Anaheim car accident after her bicycle was struck by another vehicle near Disneyland. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal bicycle accident occurred in the early hours of October 13, 2011 on Ball Road at the Interstate 5 overpass. Conway, a Disneyland employee, was riding her bike home, when a white Ford SUV hit her from behind. Conway died from her injuries at a local trauma center. The driver of the SUV is not believed to have been under the influence, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.

According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the hit-and-run car accident occurred on Locust Avenue, near Foothill Boulevard, in Fontana. The authorities responded to reports of a truck with a broken windshield driving erratically. Official subsequently found the victim on the roadway, suffering from head trauma. They were also able to track down and arrest the driver responsible for striking the bicyclist. The report does not specify why the motorist was driving erratically. Duane Parkison, a 15-year veteran of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, was killed in an Irvine car accident after his bicycle was hit by an SUV. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal bicycle accident occurred the afternoon of August 10, 2011 on Shady Canyon, near Quail Hill Parkway. Police say a Mercedes Benz SUV driven by a 35-year-old woman struck Parkison. The woman and an infant in the SUV were not injured.
