Two federal agencies have sent out teams to investigate the California crash of a Tesla Model S electric car that may have been operating under its semi-autonomous “Autopilot” system. According to a report in the Claims Journal, this is the second time the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have investigated the performance of Tesla’s Autopilot, which is supposed to keep a vehicle centered in its lane and set a distance from cars ahead. Officials Looking for Hit and Run Suspect in Fatal Orange County Freeway Crash
California Highway Patrol officials are searching for the driver of a white sedan who they say fled a car accident scene on the 405 Freeway in Santa Ana that left two people dead Jan. 5. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the night of Jan. 5 on the northbound 405 Freeway just north of Harbor Boulevard. College Student Suffers Brain Injury After Redondo Beach DUI Collision
Ashley Elizabeth Murray, a 21-year-old college student, remained hospitalized in critical condition after a suspected drunk driver crashed into the Uber vehicle in which she was traveling in Redondo Beach. According to a KTLA news report, Murray had spent the evening out with friends and was heading home with a male companion early morning on Dec. 22 when a driver ran a red light at the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Aviation Way and slammed into the Uber vehicle. Three Baldwin Park women were killed after a wrong-way driver crashed into their vehicle on the 210 Freeway early morning on Dec. 17. According to a KTLA news report, the fatal crash occurred when the women, identified as Patricia Guadalupe Araujuo, 60, Dinora Elizabeth Ortiz, 62, and Ana Patricia Zuniga, 56, were heading home after a Christmas party in Pacoima. Five Seriously Injured in Los Angeles Crash Involving Road Rage
Five people including three teens suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run crash stemming from road rage, and police are looking for the driver. According to a KTLA news report, one of the victims suffered critical injuries. The crash occurred the night of December 6, 2017, when one car cut off another at the intersection of Tica Drive and Los Feliz Boulevard. One Dead Five Injured in Diamond Bar Hit-and-Run Crash
One man was killed and five others including two children were injured in an early morning car accident on November 26, 2017. According to a KTLA news report, the fatal car accident occurred near the 57 and 60 freeway interchange. California Highway Patrol officials said at least three vehicles were involved in the collision and that the driver of a dark-colored Honda CRV abandoned his car on the freeway and fled on foot. Two Killed in Long Beach Street Racing Crash
A two-car accident in Long Beach that left two people dead may have been caused by street racing, officials said. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the car crash occurred the night of October 14, 2017 in the 600 block of Shoreline Avenue near Queens Way. The collision caused one of the cars to catch fire. A woman, a passenger who was reportedly ejected from one of the vehicles, died when paramedics arrived at the scene.

Mom Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver After Visiting Her Premature Twins in the Hospital
Katie Evans, 37, was killed in a Santa Clarita car accident involving a suspected DUI driver as she was returning home from the hospital, visiting her premature twins. According to a news report in The Signal, the heartbreaking tragedy occurred the night of October 6, 2017 when a 22-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, veered into oncoming traffic and struck Evans’s vehicle head on near the intersection of Golden Valley Road and Valley Center Drive. The woman also sideswiped another vehicle, but didn’t cause major injuries to that driver. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Officials expect to file more charges pending an official investigation.

A 67-year-old La Habra man was killed in a car accident in the San Diego area after he lost control of his vehicle, crashed and was ejected. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the night of October 4, 2017 on Montezuma Valley Road near mile marker 13.5 in unincorporated San Diego County.
