Annamaria Victoria Loza, 31, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident when she was hit by a sheriff’s patrol car, the night of March 19, 2012. According to a news report in The Press Enterprise, the fatal accident occurred in the westbound lanes of Twentynine Palms Highway near Valley View Street in Joshua Tree. Officials say the woman was running across the highway when the patrol car struck her. She succumbed to her injuries half an hour later at a nearby medical center. It is unclear why the deputy was unable to avoid the collision or if Loza was legally crossing the roadway. An investigation is ongoing.

Jesus Eduardo Lopez, 17, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say involved an underage drunk driver. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal DUI collision occurred on Sierra Highway near Angeles Forest Highway in Los Angeles, the night of March 16, 2012. Officials say a 17-year-old girl was under the influence when she lost control of a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer and crashed into a guardrail. Lopez was a passenger in the Lancer and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Zachary Butcher, 20, of Lake Forest, was fatally injured in a Riverside County car accident after the pickup truck in which he was a passenger rolled over, the night of March 14, 2012. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal rollover crash occurred on the Ortega Highway near Decker Canyon Road in Lake Elsinore. California Highway Patrol officials said 21-year-old Delbert Parada was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 when he lost control while trying to negotiate a curve. He then overcorrected causing the truck to roll over. Another vehicle crashed into the truck after it overturned on the highway. Butcher, who was sitting in the left rear passenger seat of the truck, died from his injuries. It is not clear if anyone else was injured here. The investigation is ongoing.

Jason Durant, 34, was fatally injured in a Whittier car accident after a vehicle turning left at an intersection struck him, the afternoon of March 10, 2012. According to a report in The Whittier Daily News, the motorcycle collision occurred at the intersection of Meyer Road and Beaty Avenue. Police say Durant was riding his 2003 Suzuki motorcycle east on Meyer Road, when a 31-year-old La Habra man driving a Daewoo sedan attempted a left turn in front of Durant’s motorcycle. Durant struck the right side of the Daewoo. He was ejected from his motorcycle and died at the scene. The driver of the Daewoo was not arrested pending an official investigation.

A 49-year-old woman was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after the vehicle in which she was a passenger was struck by a suspected drunk driver. According to a CBS news report, the fatal crash occurred the night of March 9, 2012 near the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and McNab Avenue in Bellflower. Police say the woman was in an SUV that was hit by a Corvette whose driver has been identified as John Rice. The woman was ejected from the SUV and died. Her 20-year-old daughter sustained non-life-threatening injuries. An 18-month-old girl in the SUV escaped uninjured. Rice has been booked on suspicion of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.

Three people were injured in a Fullerton car accident, which involved two vehicles, the morning of March 7, 2012. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred at the intersection of Gilbert Street and Moore Avenue. Police say a Dodge Grand Caravan was southbound on Gilbert and turning left to go east on Moore. At the time a Chevy Tahoe, which was northbound on Gilbert, collided with the Caravan. The Tahoe overturned and the male driver suffered lacerations to his head. Two women in the Caravan were also transported to a trauma center with possible head, neck and rib injuries. None of the injuries is believed to be life threatening. Investigators are still trying to determine who was at fault.

One person was hospitalized following an Anaheim car accident, which police report involved a big rig that left the scene, the morning of March 6, 2012. According to a news article in The Orange County Register, the truck crash occurred along the eastbound 91 Freeway near Weir Canyon Road. Officials say a silver compact car and another car hit each other before the compact was pushed into the center divider. Later, the driver of a semi-truck called the California Highway Patrol to report involvement in the collision. It is unclear which driver was responsible here, or if the truck driver will be cited for fleeing the accident site.

According to a news report in the Los Alamitos Patch, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the night of March 1, 2012 when Jemal was southbound on the 57 Freeway at Imperial Highway in Fullerton.

Raymundo Pineda Allquisiran, 30, Sandy Patterson, 54, and a 41-year-old male driver of a Nissan coupe were injured in a Santa Ana car accident that occurred after a police chase. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the head-on crash happened on McFadden Avenue near the Santa Ana River Trail, the morning of March 2, 2012. Officials had apparently noticed something suspicious about the two male occupants of a Cadillac Escalade and attempted to pull the vehicle over. Allquisiran, the driver of the Escalade fled, driving through stop signs, before crossing into oncoming traffic and striking the Nissan.

Ernest Klein, 79, of Westminster was killed in a Huntington Beach car accident after a car struck his bicycle, the morning of February 29, 2012. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal bicycle accident occurred on Bolsa Avenue near Able Lane. Police say Klein was riding his bike east on Bolsa when a 2009 BMW sedan hit him. Klein was transported to an area trauma center where he died from his injuries. The driver of the BMW, a 23-year-old Long Beach man, has not been arrested or cited pending the official investigation.
