Six people were critically injured in a Los Angeles bus accident after a vehicle jumped a sidewalk and slammed into a group waiting to board a bus. According to a KABC news report, the injury collision occurred the afternoon of February 22, 2012 at the Metro Silver Line platform off the northbound 110 Freeway, near the 105 Freeway. Police say a 52-year-old man was driving a blue colored Honda in the carpool lane when the car went over a sidewalk. The Honda then entered the bus lane, swerved around a parked bus, and struck the victims, as they were about to get on the bus.

Six people were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. Four of the victims – three men and a teenage girl – sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. A doctor at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center said the victims had suffered a range of injuries from head injuries to broken bones and internal injuries. Officials conducted a field sobriety test on the driver. Investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but they are still looking into whether the driver was under the influence of drugs. Car accidents are a fact of life. Almost everyone will be involved in some type of collision at some point in life, either as a driver or passenger. However, for an unlucky few, a major car accident causes life to become a series of physical and financial nightmares. Bills pile up as these unfortunate victims lie in pain, unable to work or carry on a normal life. To add insult to injury, insurance companies and their lawyers often ignore or minimize the pain and suffering of victims by trying to settle for far less than is fair and right.

Fortunately, car accident lawyers in Tustin are ready and willing to take up the fight for victim’s rights in car accidents. Thanks to the work of car accident attorneys in Tustin, victims are paid what is fair and are able to recover their health and life. In those cases where full recovery is not possible, the victim is at least able to find closure to the situation, knowing that they will be paid for their pain and suffering and even receive an income for the rest of their lives. Even more reassuring, victims know that their families will not suffer from the loss of income precipitated by their injuries.

Neil McConaghy, 91, was killed in a Riverside County car accident, which involved five vehicles. According to a news report in The Desert Sun, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Ramon Road in Cathedral City, the morning of February 16, 2012. Officials say a Ford F550 truck smashed into McConaghy’s Chrysler PT Cruiser. McConaghy was transported to a Palm Springs hospital where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses said the driver of the pickup may have suffered a seizure just before the crash. He sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

Chain Reaction Collision

The Ford F550 apparently first sideswiped a parked SunLine Transit Agency bus before striking McConaghy’s PT Cruiser, which was stopped at the intersection. The impact of the collision pushed the PT Cruiser into a Lexus SUV. All the vehicles then hit a Ford Mustang that was turning north from Ramon onto Date Palm. Witnesses said the Ford truck ran over the top of the PT Cruiser and “mowed it through the intersection.” One other person received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Police are still investigating the cause of this accident.
