A father and his 14-year-old daughter were injured in a San Diego car accident, which officials say involved a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in U-T San Diego, the injury collision occurred the night of February 9, 2012 on Country Club Lane in Escondido. The man and the girl were in their condominium on Eveningside Glen, when a 23-year-old man driving on Country Club lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into the residence.

The father was pinned under the front tire of the pickup and it took firefighters 20 minutes to extricate him. He suffered a broken leg, concussion and facial injuries. He has been listed in critical condition. The daughter, who was doing her homework when she was struck, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck suffered head injuries, and has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

A 3-year-old girl was killed and her mother was critically injured in an Anaheim car accident, which officials say was caused by a hit-and-run driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal hit-and-run crash occurred the evening of February 8, 2012 at the intersection of Gilbert Street and Guinida Lane. Police say the 26-year-old woman was pushing her daughter in a stroller and walking in a crosswalk when a 1995 Nissan Maxima struck them.

The driver of the Nissan abandoned the vehicle, which was later determined to have been stolen, and fled on foot. Passers by stopped to help the mother and her child who were lying on the roadway, critically injured. Both were transported to an area trauma center. The child died from her injuries and the mother remains at the hospital in critical condition. Witnesses to the collision or anyone with more information about the hit-and-run suspect is asked to contact California Highway Patrol at 949-559-7888.

Four people were injured, two critically, in an Orange County car accident, which officials say, was caused by the driver of a big-rig that ran a red light. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury collision occurred on the 5 Freeway at the Avenida Pico off-ramp in San Clemente, the morning of February 6, 2012.

California Highway Patrol officials say a big-rig exiting the freeway ran a red light and crashed into a BMW and Volvo SUV at the intersection, pushing the two vehicles into another big-rig. Two women in the Volvo were transported to an area trauma center in critical condition. One person in the BMW was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two children, who were also passengers in the BMW, were not injured. No one has been cited or arrested pending an official investigation.

A woman was killed in a Los Angeles car accident involving a driver who fled the site of the collision, the night of February 3, 2012. According to a report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the pedestrian accident occurred on Orchard Village Road near Dalbey Drive in Valencia. Officials say the woman was walking along the curb at or near the intersection, when a southbound car, driven by 68-year-old Jonathan Anker, struck her. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Anker was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

Louisa Valdovinos, 55, of Menifee, was killed in a Riverside car accident, which officials report involved a suspected drunk driver. According to a news article in The Press Enterprise, the fatal DUI collision occurred on Winchester Road south of Scott Road near Menifee, during the early morning hours of January 29, 2012. Officials say 30-year-old Jason M. Richter, of Oceanside was under the influence of alcohol when his Pontiac Grand Am drifted into oncoming traffic and struck a Toyota Corolla. The driver of the Corolla, Valdovinos, died at the scene of the crash. Richter sustained critical injuries, while his wife suffered moderate injuries. Richter may face DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.

Harold Tolliver, 92, was killed in a San Diego car accident when a vehicle hit him as he crossed the street in an unmarked crosswalk. According to a U-T San Diego news report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Shoreline and Toscana drives in University City, the morning of January 17, 2012. Officials say Tolliver was crossing the road when a 43-year-old driver in a car with “fogged up” windows struck him. Tolliver died later that afternoon in a hospital. Officials have not cited the driver involved in the collision, but the crash remains under investigation.
