A woman was critically injured in an Orange County car accident after her vehicle crashed into a stopped SUV whose driver, officials say, was under the influence. According to a City News Service report, the major injury collision occurred early morning on July 1, 2011 on the northbound 55 Freeway in Orange near Chapman Avenue. California Highway Patrol officials say a Toyota 4Runner was stopped on the freeway for unknown reasons when the woman’s older model Chevy pickup truck slammed into it. The woman was transported to an area trauma center in critical condition. The man in the SUV sustained relatively minor injuries and was arrested later on suspicion of drunk driving.

According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Solano Drive in Orange. Witnesses say the 24-year-old female driver of a Honda Civic, who was turning left from Solano Drive onto Chapman Avenue, pulled into the path of an armored truck.

Timothy Bucher, 56, was killed in San Francisco area car accident after his bicycle was struck by another vehicle. According to a news report in The Pleasanton Weekly, the fatal bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Fairmont Drive and Foothill Boulevard the morning of June 15, 2011. Police say that a 32-year-old woman was driving a 1995 Honda Civic east on Fairmont Drive at 35 mph when she took her eyes off the road and allowed the car to veer to the right.

The Honda struck Bucher who was riding his bicycle eastbound. Bucher hit his head on the windshield of the car and landed on the roadway. He sustained critical injuries despite wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The driver of the Honda was not arrested pending an official investigation.

A 15-year-old boy sustained critical injuries in a San Diego car accident involving an elderly driver who lost control of his van. According to a 10News report, the major injury collision occurred at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Rose Street in Escondido, the afternoon of June 15, 2011.

Officials say the teenager was on his bike and waiting to cross the street when the northbound Chrysler Town and Country van swerved off the roadway and struck him. The vehicle also hit a traffic light pole and a building before coming to stop. The boy was airlifted to an area hospital with severe injuries. The motorist told officials that he lost control while trying to make a left turn from Rose onto Grand. An investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to this injured teenager and his family for what they are going through at this time. I sincerely hope the young man has not suffered life-threatening injuries and wish him the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. He and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Veronica Brumley, 36, was killed in a car accident in Monterey County, when a Toyota sedan struck her after she stopped to help a stranded driver. According to a news report in The Monterey Herald, the fatal car accident occurred on Highway 156 in Castroville the morning of June 9, 2011.

Brumley had pulled her vehicle over to assist two people whose vehicle was disabled and stopped on the shoulder of the road. As she walked back to her SUV, the Toyota driven by 18-year-old Rachel Haskell hit her. Brumley was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Grief counselors were brought to the scene to assist Brumley’s 12-year-old son who witnessed the crash.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Veronica Brumley, especially her young son who witnessed the fatal crash. My thoughts and prayers are with this child and everyone who knew and loved Brumley. It is indeed tragic that a woman who had the heart to stop and help stranded motorists met with this end.

Xai Lor, 22, of Lake Forest, was fatally injured in a Riverside car accident after his car struck a pole. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal collision occurred early morning on May 29, 2011 in the 1300 block of Blaine Street, close to the Interstate 215. Riverside Coroner’s officials say Lor crashed his car into a pole in the parking lot of a service station. Lor was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman was injured in a San Diego car accident after her vehicle was hit by a city trolley in downtown San Diego. According to a San Diego 6 news report, the injury crash occurred the morning of May 31, 2011 near the intersection of Park Avenue and Market Street in the East Village area. The woman was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. An investigation is ongoing.

I’m relieved to note that the victim in this case did not suffer life-threatening injuries. I pray for her swift and full recovery.

Anaheim’s North Harbor Boulevard is notorious for its early morning traffic, but for a woman and her child passengers it has become the site of a horrific car accident. According to the Orange County Register, a woman and three children were hospitalized this morning after a car crash that briefly shut down part of Harbor Boulevard. The two drivers involved gave conflicting accounts of the accident, both adamant about the other being the driver at fault.

The unidentified woman was driving a Corolla with three children, all of which were quickly taken to the hospital by ambulance. Luckily the other driver involved was unhurt. Our sincere condolences go out to all those involved in this horrible auto accident and wish them a speedy recovery.

A boy sustained life-threatening injuries in a Long Beach car accident after he was struck by a vehicle. According to a news report in The Press-Telegram, the major injury pedestrian accident occurred on Carson Street near the Los Coyotes Diagonal the night of May 8, 2011. The boy, who was hit by a westbound Hyundai, was transported to a local hospital where he is said to be in critical condition. An investigation is ongoing.
