A baby in a stroller sustained injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after the stroller was struck by a vehicle at a street intersection. According to a news report in the Glendale News-Press, the injury pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of East Jackson and Harvard streets in Glendale the morning of December 7, 2010, when a driver heading south on Jackson made a left on Harvard and hit the stroller that was being pushed by the mother . The stroller tipped over with the baby still inside, but thankfully, the child did not appear to have suffered any major injuries. The baby was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. An investigation is ongoing.

Police officer Richard Carrillo was injured in a Fresno area car accident after a driver turned in front of his motorcycle. According to a news report in The Fresno Bee, the injury motorcycle accident occurred at Pioneer Avenue and Lowery Street in Porterville the afternoon of December 5, 2010. Carrillo was travelling eastbound on Pioneer Avenue when 22-year-old Vanessa Diane Trevino turned her car ahead of the motorcycle. The police officer sustained injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening. The accident is under investigation.

A pedestrian accident in Santa Ana resulted in critical injuries for a man who was struck by a van the night of November 28, 2010. The Orange County Register reports that the pedestrian was crossing the street near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Hazard Avenue when he was hit by a van that was traveling south on Harbor. No arrests have been made pending an official investigation.

I hope this pedestrian has not sustained catastrophic injuries. I sincerely hope and pray that he recovers quickly and completely from his injuries.

Martha Pena, 52, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when a vehicle crashed into a restaurant where she was eating. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Times, the fatal car accident occurred at Troy’s Burgers at York Boulevard and Armadale Avenue in Highland Park the evening of November 27, 2010. Pena was inside the restaurant with her family when the car crashed into the building. According to a witness, the car struck Pena throwing her about 20 feet. Pena’s 20-year-old son, who was also hit, has been listed in critical condition and two others suffered minor injuries. The driver, a 19-year-old man, passed a field sobriety test. But officials say he could still be cited or charged.

An 82-year-old woman was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which also resulted in seven additional injuries. According to a news report in The Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal car accident occurred at Avenue K and 20th Street East in Lancaster the night of November 25, 2010. Ziola Weipp, 39, and Lorena Sameron, 34, were both injured when their respective vehicles collided at the street intersection. The elderly woman killed in this car accident was a passenger in Weipp’s vehicle.

Desiree Harris, 28 and Brittany Van Zile, 26, were seriously injured in a Fresno area car accident the afternoon of November 21, 2010. According to The Merced Sun-Star, the injury car accident occurred on Highway 145 near Madera. The two Merced women were travelling in a 2005 Nissan Sentra when a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire veered into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into the Nissan. The Pontiac’s driver, Honorio Tecpile, 21, had apparently drifted off the road and overcorrected before entering oncoming traffic lanes. Both women suffered major injuries, as did a female passenger in the Pontiac. Tecpile and his passenger Esquel Piepile, 18, sustained moderate injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

A pedestrian was injured in a San Diego car accident, which police say, occurred after a driver made an illegal U-turn. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the injury car accident happened at the intersection of Rosecrans and Kurtz Streets the night of November 20, 2010 in the Midway District of San Diego. The pedestrian, described only as a man in his 40s, was crossing Rosecrans when the driver of a Ford Ranger made an illegal U-turn and struck him. The man sustained a broken femur and was transported to an area hospital. It is unclear from the report if the truck driver was cited for the accident. An investigation into the incident is pending.

Gae Sum Park, 81, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS News report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the early morning of November 20, 2010 at Olympic and Harvard boulevards in Los Angeles’ Koreatown. Officials say Park was walking outside of the marked crosswalk at the time of the fatal car accident. She sustained major body and head trauma and died at the scene of the accident. Police have described the hit-and-run vehicle as a light-colored vehicle, possibly a Toyota 4Runner.

Five children were injured in a Riverside car accident that involved an 89-year-old female driver. According to a KABC news report, the serious injury pedestrian accident took place at Cypress and Kirby streets in Hemet the evening of November 12, 2010. Five children — ages 5, 6, 7, 11 and14 — were crossing the street at the intersection. One vehicle stopped, but a second vehicle driven by the elderly woman passed the stopped car and crashed into the children. Three of the children suffered critical injuries and two of them sustained serious injuries. The driver has not been cited pending an official investigation into the car accident.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of these injured children. Apparently, they were crossing the street to return home after playing in a nearby park. Tragic! These injured children and their families will be in my thoughts and prayers.
