Several people in an SUV were injured in a Modesto car accident after a 27-year-old driver drifted into opposing lanes of traffic and struck the SUV. According to a news report in the Merced Sun Star, the major injury collision occurred the evening of April 15, 2010 on 16th Street, near Ashby Road in Merced.

Michael Hollenhorst was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla east on 16th Street when it crossed over to the westbound lane and struck a 2004 GMC Yukon driven by 35-year-old Luis Gordiano. The SUV then went into a concrete pillar on the side of the roadway after the initial collision. Damian Gordiano, 15, who was in the front passenger seat, and 6-year-old Miguelito Valencia, who was in the back seat, sustained major injuries. Four other passengers in the Yukon, including three children sustained minor injuries. Hollenhorst also suffered minor injuries. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash, officials said. An investigation is ongoing.

An Orange County car accident that occurred the afternoon of April 19, 2010 has resulted in injuries to one of the drivers. The Orange County Register reports that the crash happened at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Rio Vista Street. A Dodge Dynasty sedan struck a Ford Ranger pickup truck, which was stopped at the middle of the intersection to make a left turn. The pickup truck rolled over to its side. However, its driver was uninjured. The driver of the Dodge suffered injuries to his hand. Anaheim police are looking into who caused the crash

A 20-year-old woman sustained injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after her vehicle was struck by a van at an Irwindale intersection. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that the injury collision occurred the evening of April 12, 2010, when the woman’s Chevy Malibu was struck by a Chevy Astro van at the intersection of Cypress Street and Irwindale Avenue. The Malibu was traveling east on Cypress and the Astro van was heading west on Cypress. The collision occurred as the van’s driver attempted to turn left from Cypress to Irwindale. The Malibu’s driver was injured. But officials say they are not life-threatening injuries.

Two women who were dining at a restaurant were seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident after a driver lost control of her car and crashed into the Northridge eatery. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the crash occurred the afternoon of April 12, 2010. The 20-year-old woman who was driving a Nissan Altima told police that she lost control because a van cut her off.

Officials have not yet determined if this driver mistook the gas pedal for the brakes as she tried to avoid a collision. But what she ended up doing was accelerate right through the glass front of the restaurant. The two women who were eating in the restaurant sustained major injuries and were taken to a local hospital. Another male diner also suffered minor injuries from the flying glass. The driver and her two passengers were not injured.

A bicyclist sustained injuries in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by a minivan. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the collision occurred in the 2700 block of Kurtz Street the morning of April 14, 2010. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The collision reportedly occurred in the Midway District of San Diego. Police are investigating the incident.

The Ventura County Star reports that the accident occurred the morning of April 2, 2010, when John Allen Wilson, 47, rear-ended a vehicle occupied by its driver and a 3-year-old child near River Street, in Fillmore. Wilson was apparently trying to flee the scene of an earlier hit-and-run accident on Santa Fe Street. Wilson is facing DUI and hit-and-run charges. The driver and the child were taken to an area hospital, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.

The Gilroy Dispatch reports that the crash involved five vehicles and occurred the morning of March 30, 2010 on Pacheco Pass. A 36-year-old man driving a three-axle big-rig apparently plowed through three vehicles that were stopped for traffic at the intersection. The impact of the crash sent the stopped vehicles into each other. Six people sustained injuries. One woman who was the occupant of a 1996 Buick sustained a broken leg. All injured victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A 34-year-old woman was killed in a San Francisco car accident after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.
