A woman suffered major injuries and is still in a serious condition after a freeway crash on New Year’s Eve. Elizabeth Roberts, 55, of Lake Elsinore was severely injured in a wrong-way crash on the 215 Freeway in Menifee on Dec. 31. Her partner tells The Press-Enterprise that her “whole body broke” in this horrific crash. Roberts remains hospitalized. Man Killed, Five Others Injured at Illegal Street Racing Event in Carson
Daniel “Dano” Patten, 66, a Southern California photographer who was well known for documenting the region’s car culture, was killed at an illegal street racing event in Carson on Dec. 25 after two vehicles veered into a group of spectators. According to a news report in The Daily Breeze, Patten, a Huntington Beach resident, was fatally struck near East 230th and Banning Streets while filming drag races at the illegal gathering. A car barreled into the scene of a relatively minor traffic accident in Anaheim on Nov. 16, initiating a chain reaction collision that sent three men to the hospital with injuries. Street Racing Possibly Caused Fatal Los Angeles Car Accident
Police are looking into street racing as a possible factor in a car accident in Exposition Park that left one person dead and another in critical condition the morning of Nov. 12. According to a KTLA news report, the fatal crash occurred a little after midnight when the driver of a silver Range Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed south on Figueroa Street near Exposition Boulevard. Teen Driver Killed in Cherry Valley Car Accident
Cody Kolkow, 18, was killed in a car accident on the evening of Nov. 4 in Cherry Valley. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Brookside Avenue and Union Street. California Highway Patrol officials said a 39-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado south on Union Street and stopped at a stop sign at Brookside before proceeding through the intersection. Man Killed in Suspected Road Rage Incident in Rancho Dominguez
A man died after he was run over repeatedly during what officials believe to be a road rage incident in the Rancho Dominguez area early morning on Nov. 8. According to a KTLA news report, authorities received a report about an assault following a crash in the 19000 block of South Laurel Park Road. Manasseh Marion, 32, of Long Beach and 23-year-old Kaylee Perez of Los Angeles were killed in a wrong-way crash on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach, which also left seven others injured. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal crash occurred early morning on Oct. 31. Pedestrian Killed in Long Beach Car Accident
A 61-year-old woman was killed in a Long Beach pedestrian accident when she was struck by a vehicle that went out of control after colliding with another vehicle the afternoon of Oct. 30. According to a news report in the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the initial collision between the two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and 7th Street. The woman died at the scene. Four People Injured in Garden Grove Car Accident
A Garden Grove police cruiser was involved in a three-vehicle crash that sent four people to the hospital with injuries. According to a City News Service report, the crash occurred the afternoon of Oct. 26 at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Haster Street. The police vehicle was eastbound on Chapman passing through a green light when it was struck by a vehicle whose driver ran a red light, police officials said. Spectator Killed in Crash at Costa Mesa Street Takeover
A man in his 20s was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck that rolled over in an incident that police are investigating as a street takeover crash early morning on Oct. 22 in Costa Mesa. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the pickup truck rolled over at the intersection of Sunflower and Hyland avenues during the early morning hours.
