A 39-year-old driver has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident, which resulted in the death of 48-year-old Juan Ramirez Garcia who was jogging along the road next to Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley. The Orange County Register reports that police got several leads about the fatal hit-and-run. Officials located the hit-and-run vehicle in Westminster.

A male motorcyclist was killed in a car accident in Winnetka, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the night of August 1. Officials say a black sedan was making a left turn onto Oakdale Avenue from Sherman Way when it collided into a motorcycle. The impact sent the motorcycle careening into a parked van. Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a hit-and-run suspect who they say was involved in a car accident in Lancaster that left an 11-year-old girl dead. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the incident occurred around midnight on July 18, 2017 at the intersection of 20th Street East and Lancaster Boulevard. Officials said the 11-year-old girl was a passenger in one of the vehicles and sustained serious injuries in the crash.

Police in Pacific Palisades are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a pedestrian. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle early morning on March 8, 2017 near Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Boulevard. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. It is not clear if the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver fled the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No description was available for the driver or vehicle.

Four people suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run crash near USC’s campus in South Los Angeles. According to a City News Service report, the two-vehicle crash occurred a little after midnight on January 20, 2017 on Jefferson Boulevard near Orchard Avenue. Both vehicles were traveling west on Jefferson when they collided. One driver lost control and hit and tree while the other also lost control and hit several parked cars before coming to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the tree fled on foot. He is wanted by police on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. The four occupants of the other vehicle were also transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police are still looking into why the two vehicles collided. It is not known whether anyone in either of the vehicles was a USC student.

Police in Arcadia are looking for the driver of a Mercedes-Benz, who they say, struck and critically injured 72-year-old Roop Garg. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the incident took place the morning of August 11, 2016 in the 600 block of West Camino Real Avenue, just east of Baldwin Avenue. Police say Mercedes was going west on Camino Real Avenue when it struck the pedestrian walking west on the street. The pedestrian, Garg, suffered critical injuries.

The driver briefly stopped his car near the intersection, got out of the vehicle and walked around his vehicle. But he got back in and fled south on Baldwin Avenue. Witnesses described the hit-and-run vehicle as a white, newer-model Mercedes-Benz with paper license plates. The driver was described as an Asian man about 70 years old with gray hair, clean-shaven, wearing a short-sleeved shirt and slacks. Anyone with information is asked to contact Arcadia police at 626-574-5156.

A 48-year-old Jurupa Valley man was arrested on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run crash that critically injured a 7-year-old girl. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the incident occurred when 7-year-old DeAsha Butts was walking home from school the afternoon of February 27, 2016. A man in his 50s was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Stanton the night of February 25, 2016. According to a report in The Orange County Register, the fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Cerritos Avenue and Sherrill Street. The vehicle did not stop, but was later found abandoned nearby with a damaged hood and windshield. Witnesses told police they saw a woman leaving the vehicle, but officials did not have a description. True Cowan, 24, was killed in a Boyle Heights hit-and-run crash after a vehicle struck him. According to a KTLA news report, Cowan was struck at near the intersection of East Cesar Chavez Avenue and Chicago Street early morning on February 15, 2016. The victim was then dragged underneath the vehicle for more than 100 feet and his body only became dislodged when the vehicle drove into a driveway behind a business on Chicago Street.

The motorist backed out and fled northbound on Chicago without stopping to help the injured pedestrian. Cowan was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police don’t have a driver description or a description of the vehicle. But, they suspect, the vehicle could have damage to the left front and undercarriage. Police were checking with local businesses in the area to see if the fatal collision was captured on any of the neighboring surveillance cameras. Continue reading →

Christopher Roth, 24, was killed in a Newport Beach hit-and-run accident the morning of February 13, 2016. According to a report in the Daily Pilot, Roth was crossing at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 30th Street when a 2007 Nissan 350z traveling south on Newport struck him. The driver did not stop. Roth was transported to a trauma center where he died of his injuries soon afterward.

The hit-and-run vehicle was found abandoned near 19th and Court streets, about half a mile from the scene of the crash. Police arrested Nancy Diana Flores, 21, of Paramount in connection with the hit-and-run. Police were unable to determine whether Flores was intoxicated at the time of the crash because they did not locate her in time to test her blood for alcohol. She was arrested on felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges. The crash is under investigation.
