Scott Bolger, 32, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Kosovo and the father of twin babies, was killed in a Canyon Lake hit-and-run crash early morning on December 14, 2013. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, Bolger was at a local tavern with his brother-in-law when he stepped out to have a cigarette. Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies say Bolger stepped into the street and was hit by a car whose driver did not stop. Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Rabago at the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 951-210-1000.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family members and friends of Scott Bolger, especially his wife and 8-month-old twins. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Officials have released the photo of the hit-and-run vehicle, which they believe, crashed into 53-year-old William Alvarez the evening of December 2, 2013. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the image released by police shows a 2002 Chevy Blazer with the California license plate 6UTD023, driving away from where Alvarez was fatally struck. Officials say the owner of the vehicle is Tommy Alan Kormillio, who they believe, was also driving the SUV at the time of the collision.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find a driver who they say was involved in a hit-and-run crash near the USC campus that left a student injured. According to a KABC news report, the 20-year-old student was crossing the intersection of 18th Street and Figueroa Avenue the night of November 5, 2013 in a marked crosswalk when a driver ran a red light and struck him. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries to his hip and shoulder. The suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a 2008 Honda. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact 1-877-527-3247.

A 54-year-old man was killed in a Los Angeles motorcycle accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Soto Street and Lancaster Avenue in Boyle Heights early morning on October 28, 2013. A pedestrian was fatally struck in a Hollywood hit-and-run accident, according to CBS and NBC news reports. Police say a pedestrian was crossing the street at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Normandie Avenue early morning on October 25, 2013 when he was struck. A witness said the driver fled the scene, but was involved in a second crash near Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street, about four blocks from the site of the first crash.

Elisa Alvarez, 47, was killed in a hit-and-run accident after a speeding driver struck her and left the scene. According to a KABC news report, the fatal accident occurred in the 300 block of South Oak Street the night of October 18, 2013. Police say Alvarez was leaving a family birthday party when she was struck and killed by a speeding truck. She had just placed her infant cousin into a car seat when she was hit. Alvarez was thrown 30 feet. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The baby was unharmed. The hit-and-run vehicle was located near Arbor Vitae and Oak streets.

A 48-year-old man was killed in an Encino hit-and-run crash early morning on October 7, 2013. According to CBS Los Angeles, the collision occurred at the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Gaviota Avenue. The victim was walking outside a crosswalk on westbound Ventura Boulevard when a black SUV struck him. The SUV left the scene. Police said the SUV, a 2007 to 2014 black GMC Denali with tinted windows, sustained right front-end damage near the passenger side and had a license plate beginning with “6.” The suspect, 26-year-old Grant James Valentine turned himself in the same evening. He was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. This was the third hit-and-run in Los Angeles in the last three weeks.

Manuel Ayala, 26, was killed in a hit-and-run crash last week and officials are still searching for leads in his case. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal collision occurred when Ayala was crossing Pacific Coast Highway near Wilmington Boulevard the night of September 16, 2013. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal incident occurred the night of September 20, 2013 at the intersection of Hemlock Street and Capstan Drive in Oxnard. Officials say the vehicle was westbound on Hemlock when Reyes tried to cross in a marked crosswalk.

A man suspected of driving under the influence was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Seal Beach that seriously injured a motorcyclist. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal incident occurred early morning on September 5, 2013 at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Anderson Street. Police say motorcyclist was struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, later identified as 31-year-old Nathan Teixeira fled on foot even as the motorcyclist was down in the intersection.
