Timothy Denzler, 19, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle at a street intersection. According to a news report in The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the night of October 10, 2010 at the intersection of Milliken Avenue and Church Street in Rancho Cucamonga. Denzler rode into the intersection as the light turned green and struck a Toyota Corolla driven by 22-year-old Vanessa Fiorenza, which was turning left at the intersection. Denzler was thrown off his motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.

Sergio Rios Padilla, 23, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, was caused by a suspected drunk driver. The Long Beach Telegram reports that the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Florence Avenue in Downey, early morning on October 8, 2010. Police say 31-year-old Daniel Sokyra, who was driving a GMC pickup truck, ran a red light and struck Padilla. The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and died at the hospital shortly after the car accident. Sokyra has been booked on suspicion of felony drunken driving.

A suspected DUI collision in Watsonville resulted in the death of a 49-year-old motorcyclist and seriously injured his son, the San Jose Mercury News reports. The fatal motorcycle crash occurred the night of September 27, 2010 when the motorcyclist who was traveling south on Carlton Road was hit by a Toyota Camry going north on the roadway. Officials determined that the driver of the Camry, 51-year-old Maria Villegas de Munoz, was under the influence. She was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI. While the man died at the scene, his son was transported to a local hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.

A motorcycle officer was critically injured in a Los Angeles car accident after a driver turned left in front of him, The Daily Breeze report. The officer, a member of the Torrance Police Department was riding his motorcycle west on Redondo Boulevard the morning of September 30, 2010. A Chevrolet Astro van, driven by 49-year-old Magda Villaneuva who was heading east on Redondo, then made a left turn ahead of the motorcyclist to enter Alondra Park near Yukon Avenue. The officer’s motorcycle crashed into the side of the van. He was thrown about 30 feet into the air and landed on the street. The officer was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

My heart goes out to the severely injured police officer in this case. I wish him the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. He and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

A 25-year-old motorcyclist, who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run car accident collision the morning of September 18, 2010, has been identified as Valentin Cruz. The Visalia Times-Delta reports that the hit-and-run collision occurred at the intersection of Avenue 8 and Road 184. Cruz was riding a motorcycle west on Avenue 8 when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle, which fled the scene. Cruz suffered a broken arm and leg. A vehicle or driver description is not available.

A motorcyclist sustained serious personal injuries after an accident on the 5 Freeway in Mission Viejo caused by a pallet dropped on the roadway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the motorcyclist was northbound on the freeway near Oso Parkway on August 27, 2010, when he struck the debris and crashed. He has been hospitalized with major injuries. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating this incident.

I sympathize with this motorcyclist, who has apparently suffered severe injuries because of someone else’s negligence. I pray he recovers quickly and completely from his injuries.

John Titlow, 47, was killed in a motorcycle accident the evening of July 3, 2010, after he lost control of his 2008 Harley Davidson and crashed. According to a news report in The Vacaville Reporter, Titlow was entering eastbound Interstate 80 from northbound Suisun Valley Road, in Fairfield, when he lost control of the motorcycle and drove off the roadway. California Highway Patrol officials say Titlow was thrown off the motorcycle and sustained major injuries. Witnesses stopped to assist the injured motorcyclist, but he died at the scene. An investigation is ongoing.

A police officer who was injured in a motorcycle accident in Oakland has been identified as Edwin Bermudez. The Oakland Tribune reports that the accident occurred at the intersection of 98th Avenue and Empire Road when the driver of a car ran a red light and struck the on-duty officer who was on his motorcycle. The officer was ejected from his motorcycle by the impact, and taken to an area medical center with serious injuries. His injuries were thankfully not life-threatening. Police are investigating the incident.

Nathaniel Joseph Camacho, 38, was killed in a San Diego car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle that was making a U-turn. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, Camacho was riding a 2001 Honda CBR motorcycle east on Greenfield Drive the night of May 23, 2010, when he collided with the driver’s side of a Toyota Camry as it made a U-turn on Greenfield. Camacho was transported to a local hospital where he died. An investigation is ongoing.

Brock Kleeman, 20, was killed in a Bakersfield car accident after his motorcycle was struck by a van at an intersection. According to an ABC News report, the fatal crash occurred the afternoon of May 18, 2010 at the intersection of Niles and Robinson Street. Bakersfield police officials said Kleeman was traveling west on Niles when a white Ford Aerostar van driven by 33-year-old Calvin Stepney attempted to turn south onto Robinson. The van ended up turning directly into Kleeman’s path. Kleeman lost control of his motorcycle colliding with the driver’s side of the van. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and died later that day. Stepney was uninjured. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
