Austin Caldera, 16, died in a pedestrian accident in Stanton after the car veered off the roadway and hit the teen who was walking on a sidewalk. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred near Beach Boulevard and Katella Avenue the morning of July 27, 2016. Police said the driver of the car was going north on Beach Boulevard, south of Katella Avenue, when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck Caldera who was walking on the sidewalk.

He was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. Investigators say there are no indications that drugs or alcohol played a part in this crash. The driver remained at the scene. No arrests or citations have been made pending an official investigation.

A 10-month-old was killed in a pedestrian accident when the child and the mother were struck in a South Los Angeles crosswalk. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the morning of July 21, 2016. Los Angeles police said 36-year-old Juana Oxlaj was attempting to cross Broadway westbound at the north crosswalk at 59th Place with her child when the accident occurred.

The pickup truck driver was making a left onto Broadway when it collided with the pedestrians. The victims were transported to an area hospital where the infant was later pronounced dead. The mother suffered head trauma, but is expected to survive, and was listed in stable condition. Police said the driver, 38-year-old Esteban Carbajal, stopped and remained at the scene. Jessica Rangel, 21, was killed in a Fullerton car accident after a pickup truck struck her as she was crossing the street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian collision occurred the night of June 14, 2016 at the intersection of Valencia Drive and Lemon Street. Rangel, who was struck by a red Toyota Tacoma was transported to an area trauma center with critical injuries.

She succumbed to her injuries. The Tacoma’s driver, a 39-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. Police say they don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a part in the incident. They are also looking into whether the woman was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

A 57-year-old woman was killed in a pedestrian accident in Van Nuys. According to a KABC news report, the incident occurred the night of May 29, 2016 in the 16400 block of Victory Boulevard. LAPD officials said the woman was crossing the street when a vehicle struck her. A Good Samaritan stopped and called 911. But, the pedestrian’s injuries were so severe that she died at the scene. The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck the woman fled the scene, but he later turned himself in to authorities. He is facing felony hit-and-run charges. Police are still investigating this fatal pedestrian accident.

Felix Navarette, 74, died four days after he was critically injured in a Santa Ana pedestrian accident. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred the night of April 30, 2016. Navarette was crossing North Fairview Street when a Honda headed northbound tried to turn right onto West 5th Street and struck Navarette who was walking in a marked crosswalk.

He was transported to an area trauma center where he died from his injuries four days later. The driver remained at the scene of the crash. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors. The investigation is ongoing.

Police have arrested a driver after a fatal pedestrian accident in South Los Angeles. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the fatal collision occurred the night of April 21, 2016 at the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Gramercy Place. LAPD officials say the pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle struck him. The impact of the collision caused the man to become airborne and then hit the pavement. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver fled the scene. Police, however, located the vehicle in Inglewood. They later arrested the man believed to be the driver. The victim was identified as a man in his 30s. The investigation is still ongoing.

Pia Botz, 69, and her daughter Erica Botz, 31, were both killed in a West Hills pedestrian accident the night of April 11, 2016. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Jason Avenue. Mother and daughter were walking with their black Labrador retriever in a marked crosswalk when a red Mitsubishi SUV heading west struck them.

The women were in a crosswalk trying to cross to the south side of the street. The daughter was pronounced dead at the scene while the mother was taken to a local hospital where she was also pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and is not being charged at this time. Officials do not believe speed was a factor in this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

A man suffered critical injuries in a Newport Beach pedestrian accident after a truck hit him as he was crossing the road. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the evening of January 10, 2013 on West Coast Highway east of Prospect Street. Police say a man driving a GMC truck traveling east on West Coast Highway struck a pedestrian crossing the eastbound lanes outside of a crosswalk.

The driver was uninjured, but the pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area trauma center. Police do not believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. No citations or arrests were reported. Officials are still looking into what caused this collision.
