A 6-year-old boy required surgery and remains hospitalized after being seriously injured in a Santa Ana car accident. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the pedestrian accident occurred on West Highland Street near Shelton Street, the night of June 17, 2012. Officials say the child crossed in front of the car as the vehicle was pulling into a driveway. The driver, a man in his 30s, hit the gas instead of the brakes. The boy was pinned between the vehicle and a block wall. The child suffered severe trauma to his abdomen. It is not clear if the driver will be cited for the crash.

Gregory Jay Pflum, 52, of Fullerton, was killed in a Fullerton car accident when a 2011 Ford Fusion struck him as he crossed the street. According to The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Commonwealth Avenue in Fullerton, the night of June 16, 2012. Officials say Pflum was crossing the road from north to south when the eastbound Ford struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The male driver and female passenger in the Ford were questioned and released. It is not clear if any citations will result from the collision, but investigators are looking for witnesses and more information about the circumstances of this fatal collision.

Brian Beato, 15, was killed in a Long Beach car accident when a car hit him as he crossed the street, the night of June 1, 2012. According to The Press-Telegram, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Spring Street near Stevely Avenue in Long Beach. Officials say Beato was walking with another youth when a westbound Honda Civic struck him. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter at a nearby medical center. At this time, officials have not cited the female driver of the Honda and they are waiting to discuss the crash with the other youth who was a witness.

An 86-year-old man, who was seriously injured in a Seal Beach car accident after being struck by a suspected drunk driver, died on May 28, 2012. According to The Orange County Register, the incident occurred the evening of May 20 at the intersection of St. Andrews Drive and Tam O’Shanter Road in Leisure World. The rider of the wheelchair was transported in critical condition to an area hospital while the driver, 75-year-old Dale Snyder Quinn, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The coroner still has not released the name of the deceased victim or the cause of death. Seal Beach police and the Orange County District Attorney’s office are investigating the incident. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Seal Beach police at 562-799-4100.

A 57-year-old woman suffered a serious head injury in a San Diego car accident after a vehicle struck her at a street intersection. According to a news report in U-T San Diego, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Wightman Street and Marlborough Avenue the morning of January 26, 2012. Officials say the 30-year-old driver of a GMC pickup truck stopped at a stop sign and then attempted a right turn. The pickup hit the woman, knocking her to the ground. Augustine Choi, 97, was critically injured in a Garden Grove car accident after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road, the afternoon of January 21, 2012. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, Choi was walking in a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Brookhurst Street and Stanford Avenue when he was hit by a car. The driver and other passersby stopped to help the elderly victim. Choi was transported to an area trauma center and is said to be in critical condition. An investigation is ongoing.

Karen Lee Henthorn, 60, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. According to news reports in The Press-Enterprise and The San Bernardino County Sun, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of East Lynwood Drive and North Mountain Avenue, the evening of December 26, 2011. Officials say a 1994 Honda sedan hit Henthorn as she was walking in the crosswalk. She was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries shortly after the incident. A 17-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were seriously injured in a Victorville car accident after they were struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk. According to a news report in the Victorville Daily Press, the pedestrian accident occurred the night of December 13, 2011, when the teen was pushing the child in a stroller and crossing Seventh Street and Desert Knolls Drive at the light.

A 62-year-old man made a left turn from Desert Knolls Drive onto Seventh Street and hit the girl and the child. After striking the victims, the driver dragged the stroller for a short distance. The girl suffered cuts and scrapes, while the child sustained a fractured skull. The driver remained at the scene and talked to police. No arrests have been made pending an official investigation.

Denley Angeles, 18, was killed in an Anaheim car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a busy roadway to catch a bus. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the morning of December 1, 2011 at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue. Police say Angeles had just gotten off a bus and was trying to cross the street to catch another bus when a Toyota Camry hit her.
