A wheelchair-bound pedestrian was fatally injured in a San Diego car accident after being hit by a van while in a crosswalk, the night of June 25, 2011. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Midway Drive, Point Loma Boulevard and Sports Arena Boulevard in the Midway District, when a van from Sam Kholi Ministries struck and killed the man in the wheelchair. The article states Sam Kholi Ministries runs a payroll company and a trucking company called Jesus Christ is Lord Travel Center. The victim was thrown onto the crosswalk, while his wheelchair was stuck under the van. Officials are investigating this fatal pedestrian collision.

Pedestrians Critically Injured in Two Separate Orange County Car Accidents
Two pedestrians are in critical condition after being involved in two unrelated Orange County car accidents within four miles of each other. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, one of the pedestrian accidents occurred at Knott and Lincoln avenues, and the other occurred at Crescent Way and Lincoln Avenue. Both accidents occurred in Anaheim the night of May 5, 2011.
The pedestrian accident that occurred at Knott and Lincoln did not involve alcohol and the driver responsible for the collision remained at the scene of the crash. The injury accident that occurred at Crescent Way and Lincoln involved a hit-and-run driver. The authorities are searching for a dark, 2000 or newer Toyota Camry. Like the victim of the other accident, the female victim of this hit-and-run accident suffered life-threatening injuries.

Teen Pedestrian Killed in Los Angeles Car Accident
Alice Zhang, 16, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when a car struck her and a friend as they crossed the street. According to The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Duarte Road in Arcadia the evening of April 10, 2011. Officials say the two teenaged girls were crossing the road in a marked crosswalk when a car driven by a 20-year-old man hit them. Zhang was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries. Her 16-year-old friend survived, but suffered serious injuries. The driver has not been charged pending an official investigation.

Woman Killed in Los Angeles Pedestrian Accident
Kelly Shimizu, 63, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident after she was struck in a crosswalk the morning of March 30, 2011. According to a CBS News report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Cotner Avenue in West Los Angeles. Police say Shimizu was walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection when a big rig hit her. Officials say the trucker, a Whittier resident, may not have realized that he hit someone. Pedestrian Injured in Orange County Car Accident
A pedestrian was injured in an Orange County car accident after a female driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake and drove through a store window. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury pedestrian accident occurred the evening of March 29, 2011 at a 7-Eleven store at the corner of Main Street and Palmyra Avenue in Orange. The GMC Sierra pickup truck struck a guard rail and plowed into the entrance of the convenience store. The rail hit a female pedestrian. Officials say she sustained injuries which are not life-threatening. No one else was injured.

Pedestrian Killed in Orange County Car Accident
Berna Martinez, 74, was killed in an Orange County car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the morning of March 21, 2011 as Martinez was crossing at the intersection of Red Hill Avenue and El Camino Real in Tustin.
She was hit by a Mercury Sable driven by an elderly woman and dragged for about a mile under the vehicle through El Camino Real and Newport Avenue. Martinez’s body came loose from the vehicle at Newport Avenue, near Sixth Street. She was found next to the center divider. The driver, a 79-year-old woman, was stopped by witnesses at Newport and Irvine boulevards. Officers say Martinez was struck at a lighted, controlled crosswalk. An investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Injured in San Diego Car Accident
A 60-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a San Diego car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the injury car accident occurred at the intersection of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Luna Avenue early morning on March 15, 2011. The pedestrian was struck by a Honda Civic, which was northbound, and was carried about 25 to 30 feet. Officials say the woman was walking in a crosswalk, but are looking into who had the light at the time. The driver told officials he simply did not see the pedestrian. An investigation is ongoing.

Woman Killed In San Bernardino Pedestrian Accident
Lisa Via, 42, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after she was struck by her own vehicle that was being repossessed. According to a news report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Monte Vista Avenue in Chino Hills early morning on March 1, 2011. The driver, 42-year-old Leo Song told officials that he backed up his tow truck to a 2002 Buick belonging to Via. Song said he started taking her car despite her protests. Via was struck and pinned under the Buick. Song told officials he assumed that Via had moved away from the tow truck and her car. Via was transported to a local hospital where she died shortly after the incident.

85-Year-Old Man Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident
Manuel Alba, an 85-year-old Ramona man, was killed in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s report, the fatal car accident occurred the morning of February 11, 2011 at the intersection of Main Street and 7th Street in Ramona. Alba was crossing the street at the intersection when a truck pulling a wood chipper hit him. The critically injured pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he died. An investigation is ongoing.

Orange County Pedestrian Accident Proves Fatal
A 42-year-old man was killed in an Orange County car accident after he was struck by an SUV while crossing a roadway. According to a City News Service report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the evening of February 5, 2011 near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and McFadden Avenue in Santa Ana. The pedestrian was crossing Harbor when a white Chevrolet Suburban hit him. He died at the scene. Officials say the man was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident, and that alcohol or drugs were not a factor. An investigation is ongoing.
