David Ruling, 31, was critically injured in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by an SUV. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the major injury pedestrian accident occurred the evening of January 22, 2011 on West San Marcos Boulevard near Johnston Lane in San Marcos. Police say the victim ran into the roadway and hit the driver’s side door of a Toyota 4Runner. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with severe head injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

A 52-year-old woman in an electric wheelchair died in a Los Angeles car accident after she was struck by a car and pinned against a wall. According to a report in the Pasadena Star-News, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the evening of January 27, 2011 on Fair Oaks Avenue near Howard Street in Pasadena.

The vehicle, a Jaguar, had crashed into a wall and the woman in the wheelchair was found pinned between the car and the wall. She died at the scene. Investigators say the Jaguar hit the wall when its driver, a 28-year-old man, swerved to avoid hitting a dark sedan that was backing out of a driveway. Police are looking for the driver of that vehicle.

A male pedestrian was injured in an Orange County car accident after a police vehicle struck him. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Anaheim Boulevard and Broadway in Anaheim the night of December 17, 2010. The man was crossing the street when the Anaheim police vehicle hit him. The male pedestrian sustained injuries in the car accident, but is expected to survive. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

What Caused This Injury Car Accident?

Police have not released the details and circumstances of this pedestrian accident. We do know however that the pedestrian was in the intersection and the police vehicle was marked but it did not have its sirens on. Under California law, any driver is required to yield right-of-way to pedestrians who are walking in a marked or unmarked crosswalk.

Jackie Autry, widow of the original Anaheim Angels owner Gene Autry, was involved in a fatal pedestrian accident after she struck and killed Jesus Cardova Diaz, 50, on a Palm Springs roadway. According a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the evening of November 25, 2010 on Sunrise Way near Ramon Road in Palm Springs. Based on preliminary investigations, police have determined that Diaz was not walking in a marked crosswalk and that Autry was not speeding in the 35-mph zone. Autry said she did not see the homeless man who was crossing the street with a group of homeless people. An investigation is ongoing.

A woman who was killed in a pedestrian accident in National City has been identified as 53-year-old Maria Trinidad Anguiano Galindo. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Galindo was walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of D Avenue and East 18th Street the morning of November 5, 2010, when she was struck by a pickup truck that was turning left. Galindo sustained fatal injuries. The driver has not been cited or arrested pending an official investigation.

The pedestrian was walking near the intersection of Vanowen Street and Noble Avenue when he was struck by a white, four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Maxima or an Infiniti. The car left the scene of the pedestrian accident. The teenager was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The hit-and-run driver is still at large.

The Los Angeles Daily News reports that the girl was walking with her aunt at the intersection of 77th Street and Avalon Boulevard in the Florence area of south Los Angeles when a red Toyota hit them. The girl sustained severe head trauma, but is expected to survive. Her aunt suffered injuries to her hand. The hit-and-run driver is still at large.

Kelly Jay Henningsgaard, 56, was killed in an Orange County car accident when he was struck by at least two vehicles. According to an ABC news report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred on Harbor Boulevard near Penguin Avenue in Fountain Valley the night of October 30, 2010.
