A man was fatally injured in a pedestrian accident the night of June 13, 2010 near the Cahuenga Pass, the Los Angeles Times reports. The fatal collision occurred in the 4200 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others in the vehicle that struck the pedestrian were also injured in the resulting crash. Firefighters rescued one person who was pinned under the vehicle. All injured victims were taken to local medical centers. An investigation is ongoing.

A pedestrian accident on June 6, 2010 in the Midtown area of San Diego claimed the life of a 52-year-old man, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. California Highway Patrol officials say the man was crossing an on-ramp to the 5 Freeway on West Washington Street when he was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian died at the scene. No arrested have yet been made. An investigation is ongoing. Officials have not identified the victim.

Martha Leon, 55, was killed in an Oceanside car accident after she was struck by a vehicle at an intersection while crossing the street. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Vandegrift Boulevard and Parker Street the night of June 7, 2010. Leon was transported to an area hospital where she died shortly after the crash. The driver of the vehicle told officials that she had the green light. An investigation is ongoing.

A 69-year-old man sustained serious injuries in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by a FedEx delivery truck while walking in a marked crosswalk, the morning of June 3, 2010. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the man was crossing Federal Boulevard at 50th Street, when a FedEx driver who was exiting a strip mall failed to see the pedestrian in the crosswalk and struck him. The man suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung. His injuries, however, are not believed to be life-threatening. Officials are still in the process of determining whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the FedEx truck.

A pedestrian accident in Concord, killed a man near the State Route 242, CBS News report. The accident occurred when a car struck the pedestrian the night of March 24, 2010. The man was taken to an area hospital. He died several hours after the collision. Police have not said how or exactly where the accident occurred, neither has the driver been identified. An investigation is ongoing.

Thomas Stout, 66, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident the morning of May 22, 2010 when a car rammed into several parked cars and struck him. The driver of the vehicle, Josef Byron Britt III, has been arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter in connection with this incident, according to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News. Britt was driving a 2000 Chrysler Sebring east on Rinaldi Street when he struck three vehicles parked at the south curb. Stout was loading items into one of the cars and was hit. A 7-year-old girl was seriously injured in an Orange County car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while playing with a friend in front of her Dana Point home. The Orange County Register reports that the injury collision happened near La Paz Avenue and Silver Lantern Street the evening of May 10, 2010. The driver of the pickup or “military-style” truck that hit the girl did not stop and fled the scene of the collision. The child was transported to an area hospital. A 34-year-old woman was killed in a San Francisco car accident after she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk. According to a news report in the Oakland Tribune, the woman was walking at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Berry Avenue, the night of March 30, 2010, when she was struck by a Saturn sedan driven by a 29-year-old man. The man told police that he did not see the woman until the moment the accident happened. Officials say they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. An investigation is ongoing.

Khuong Nguyen, 42, was injured in an Orange County car accident after he was struck by an out-of-control car in the parking lot of a Garden Grove hotel. According to a news report in The Garden Grove Journal, the incident occurred at the Ramada Inn Plaza on Garden Grove Boulevard, the night of March 5, 2010, when a Jeep Liberty SUV that was being driven into the hotel parking lot by 58-year-old Dzung Truong, hit Nguyen.

Truong told police officials that he tried to stop, but his brakes failed and that the car continued forward, striking Nguyen and pushing him against a wall. Nguyen sustained major leg injuries. He was transported to a local hospital. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved. No citations have been issued pending a police investigation.

I sympathize with Nguyen, who has apparently been seriously injured in this collision. I hope he has not suffered any catastrophic injuries and wish him the very best for a quick and full recovery. He will be in my prayers.

Steven Anthony Kelley, 18, was killed in a San Diego car accident after he was struck by a two cars while crossing El Camino Real, in Carlsbad, the night of March 5, 2010. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the second driver waited at the scene, but the driver who initially struck Kelley drove away. The following day, a woman called police and told them that she may have struck Kelley. She told officials she drove away because she thought she had “struck an object” and did not realize that she may have hit a person. Kelley was crossing the northbound lanes of El Camino Real, near Camino Vida Roble.
