A man was severely injured in an Orange County car accident after his motorcycle crashed into a disabled vehicle. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury motorcycle accident occurred in the northbound lanes of the 55 Freeway at La Veta Avenue, the night of October 18, 2011. California Highway Patrol officials say that the disabled vehicle was in a freeway lane at the time of the accident. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. It is not clear why the disabled vehicle was in traffic lanes or why the victim was unable to avoid the collision. An investigation is ongoing.

A 65-year-old woman suffered major injuries in a Laguna Beach automobile accident after she was hit by an SUV whose driver is suspected of operating under the influence. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury pedestrian collision occurred on Laguna Canyon Road near the Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters. The pedestrian was crossing the roadway with another person, the night of October 15, 2011, when she was struck by the westbound SUV. The woman suffered major trauma and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the SUV, identified as 65-year-old Sharon Niggemann, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.

A female pedestrian suffered leg injuries in a Los Angeles car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while walking in a marked crosswalk. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the injury pedestrian accident occurred the night of October 11, 2011 at the intersection of Garvey and Jackson avenues in Rosemead. Police say the woman was walking in a crosswalk when she was struck. The driver remained at the scene. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with an injured leg. An investigation is ongoing.

My heart goes out to this injured pedestrian and I truly hope she did not suffer major injuries. I wish her the very best for a speedy and complete recovery. Please keep this victim in your thoughts and prayers.

Milford Fonza, a 67-year-old retired fire chief, was severely injured in a dog bite
incident in Glendora, early morning on October 10, 2011. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Fonza was walking in the 1600 block of S. Sunflower Avenue when he was attacked by two pit bulls. Fonza told officials he fought the pit bulls for nearly four minutes with his walking stick. He sustained puncture wounds to his arms, legs, torso and groin and also suffered a separated or broken shoulder. Glendora Police Officer Matt Fenner who was on patrol at the time saw Fonza struggling with the dogs. He hit one of the dogs with his car and then shot and killed the other dog as it charged at him. The dog hit by the car also died shortly after the incident. Officials are still looking for the owner of the dogs.
