Four people died on the night of Jan. 16th after the SUV in which they were traveling veered off a bridge east of San Francisco. According to a news report in the Daily Mail, the vehicle went out of control, veered across all lanes of traffic, collided with a concrete barrier of the bridge and then plummeted 200 feet as it fell over the edge and struck a stationary freight train. All four occupants – Perla Navarro, Kyle Erickson, both 19, and Christopher Mata, 21, and Cecilia Ayala, 22 – were killed. Two Hospitalized after San Diego Ford Explorer Rollover Crash
Two men suffered injuries in a San Diego car crash after the SUV in which they were traveling went out of control and rolled over multiple times. According to a 10News report, the rollover crash occurred the night of August 13, 2012 on the Interstate 5 just south of Del Mar Heights Road. California Highway Patrol officials say it is not clear what caused the vehicle to go out of control. The Ford Explorer SUV landed on its wheels after rolling over several times, trapping the two men inside. They were extricated and transported to a local hospital. Their injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.

Van Nuys Crash Proves Fatal
Daniel Contreras, 30 was killed in a Los Angeles County car accident when his SUV flew off one highway and fell onto another. According to a report in The Daily News, the fatal car accident occurred at the Ventura 101 Freeway interchange bridge in Sherman Oaks where it meets the San Diego 405 Freeway, during the early morning hours of August 12, 2012. Officials say the victim’s SUV struck a metal guardrail, went over a concrete barrier and through two bridges before landing on the 405 freeway, 25 feet below. The SUV overturned on the lower freeway and Contreras was fatally injured. It is not clear what caused him to lose control or why his vehicle left the roadway.

Driver Killed in Tustin Car Accident
Tyler Macchiavello, 20, was killed in a Tustin car accident after he was ejected from the Ford Explorer SUV he was driving. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal rollover accident occurred the morning of August 3, 2012 on the northbound 55 Freeway at the Interstate 5. California Highway Patrol officials say the Ford SUV flipped and Macchiavello was ejected from the SUV. He had been traveling in the number two lane when he swerved into the number four lane. Officials suspect that he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to an area hospital with major injuries. He died about 13 hours after the crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Woman Critically Injured in San Bernardino County Rollover Crash
A woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a San Bernardino County rollover accident after she was ejected from an SUV. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal rollover wreck occurred the morning of August 2, 2012 along the 10 Freeway’s westbound lanes at the Mountain Avenue onramp. Officials say a white Ford Explorer flipped, ejecting the victim. The woman was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

Orange County Rollover Accident Leaves Two Injured
Two female drivers were injured in an Orange County car accident involving five vehicles, the morning of October 20, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway, near the 73 Freeway, in Costa Mesa. Officials say that a Toyota Solara was travelling at a high rate of speed before colliding with a Ford Explorer, a Lincoln limousine, an airport shuttle van and a Hyundai Tiberon. The Ford Explorer rolled over during the collision and the female driver was injured. The driver of the Solara was ejected from her vehicle during the collision. It is not clear if the driver of the Solara will be cited for the crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Women Killed in SUV Rollover Accident
Teresa Lynn Cramer, 46, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident when her Chevrolet Suburban went out of control, rolled over and crashed. According to a City News Service report, the fatal rollover accident occurred on the eastbound 60 Freeway in Montebello the morning of June 1, 2011. Cramer was travelling in her SUV when it veered out of control, overturned, struck a light pole and ejected her. Officials are investigating the cause of this fatal crash.

San Francisco Area Rollover Car Accident Kills 7-year-old Boy
Mark Thomas, 7, died in a fatal San Francisco car accident after his family’s Ford Explorer SUV blew a tire, went out of control and rolled over on the Interstate 580 in San Leandro. According to a news report in the Oakland Tribune, Jewel Mims, Mark’s 22-year-old sister, was driving the Explorer west on the Highway the afternoon of November 11, 2009, when the left rear tire blew. Mims took her hands off the steering wheel. The Ford Explorer went out of control, veered to the right and rolled over. Mark was partially ejected from the SUV. The boy was apparently in the rear cargo area and did not appear to be restrained, California Highway Patrol officials said. The boy died of head injuries shortly after the accident. No one else suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of this crash.

Fatal SUV Rollover Accident Injures Los Angeles residents
Two people died and six were injured in a three-car rollover car accident in Utah early morning July 12, 2009. According to a news report in The Spectrum, most of the injured victims were from Los Angeles and the Southern California area. The fatal car accident occurred when 29-year-old Juan Garcia, who was driving south on the 15 Freeway, swerved to avoid a deer. Garcia’s 1993 Range Rover rolled over several times. His two children–Zapatista Angulo, 3, and Assata Angulo, 5 months, were ejected from the SUV.
The baby–Assata Angulo–died of head injuries. Olegario Angulo, 31, a passenger in the Range Rover, suffered fatal head injuries after the SUV’s roof and door caved in. He died at the scene. Chantel Manuel, 22, suffered injuries to the lower torso and Garcia sustained head and arm injuries. Zapatista Angulo was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
Mario Mendez, 67, was driving a 2006 Toyota 4Runner south when he saw the debris, but missed the Range Rover crashing into it. He was not injured. But a third driver, 47-year-old Jennifer Jordan of Rancho Santa Margarita crashed her Toyota Tacoma into the Range Rover and suffered ankle injuries. Her son, Jeremy, 20, suffered minor injuries.

San Diego Chevy Tahoe Rollover Accident
Two people were injured in a California SUV rollover crash north of Lakeside the morning of April 8, 2009, 10news reports. The rollover accident occurred on southbound Highway 67 near Slaughterhouse Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol officials said. The driver of the Tahoe apparently lost control of the SUV, which overturned and rolled 50 to 60 feet down an embankment along the highway. Rescue crews freed two people who were trapped inside the Chevy Tahoe. The sport utility vehicle was smashed and the roof of the vehicle was completely crushed and caved in. CHP traffic investigators are looking into what caused this rollover crash.
The nature of the injuries suffered by the two people is not exactly known. I hope they did not suffer major injuries in this rollover accident. I wish these SUV roof crush victims the very best for a quick and complete recovery.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 10,698 rollover fatalities in the United States in 2006. That accounts for 35 percent of vehicle occupants killed in traffic accidents, according to government statistics compiled by consumer rights group, Public Citizen. That was up from 9,379 rollover deaths in 1996, which then accounted for 29 percent of all vehicle-occupant fatalities.
