Man Killed in San Mateo Pedestrian Accident

San Mateo authorities have indentified a 52-year-old man killed in a pedestrian accident as Gus Roubos. According to this news report in the San Mateo County Times, the San Mateo County Coroner is trying to determine whether Roubos died from pre-existing health conditions or as a result of injuries he suffered in the January 9, 2009 pedestrian accident after a suspected drunk driver hit him.

Officials say Roubos was released from the San Mateo Medical Center barely three minutes before the fatal crash. Eyewitnesses say that Roubos was crossing the street and walking in a crosswalk when the driver recklessly hit him. That driver, 57-year-old Louis James Henry of Pacifica, has been arrested on suspicion of reckless driving and driving under the influence.

Based on this newspaper report and what eyewitnesses are saying, it appears to me that Louis James Henry was driving recklessly and erratically at the time of the accident. Officials have arrested him on suspicion of DUI. I sincerely hope the driver, Henry, is held both criminally and civilly responsible for this fatal pedestrian accident and injuries caused to Roubos. He will most likely face criminal vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI charges.

I’d urge Gus Roubos’ family to consult with an experienced California pedestrian accident attorney who will help protect their rights and secure the justice and compensation they rightfully deserve. A skilled personal injury lawyer will also look into other factors that may have caused the accident such as a dangerous roadway or intersection. If that turns out to be an issue, the governmental agency in charge of maintaining that roadway could be held liable. Please remember that in the state of California, any claim against a governmental agency must be filed within six months of the accident. First of all , let me tell you the man you are hating on, and I believe you are aware of this WAS NOT GUILTY of said accident… I understand you are morning your relative, but PLEASE do keep in mind at the same time you are condemning a very respectful man. YES, it was tragic, for him as well but at the very same time its life… my suggestion to you family members is, GET ON WITH IT…. the best you can … STOP blaming accidental situations and accept what Is.. Now, back to the topic, maybe if your brother wasent released at night and had someone there to pick him up, which is the law, he would not be gone. STOP trying to hang whatever guilt you harbor on the driver, as Ive stated before, and a jury agreed, HE IS INNOCENT. He was neither drunk or on drugs, get ahold of the court transcripts and read for yourself. I will pray for you, and by the way, if it was my family member I would have been there to pick him up. This is going to be the last and final comment I will make to you. First, of all, who do you think you are? My spelling and grammer are absolutely correct. You should be checking yours. I am bitter! What do you think? It was my brother who got killed. If it was yours, I bet you wouldn’t be so understanding. If your husband, boyfriend or whatever he is to you, would have stopped at the STOP sign, then my brother would be alive today. Witnesses saw it.
