Orange County Car Accident Injures Two

By

Two drivers were hospitalized with injuries after an Orange County car accident involving three vehicles occurred at a street intersection in Tustin, California. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the collision involved a red Honda Accord, a black Scion and a gray Mercedes-Benz sedan at the intersection of Tustin Ranch Road and Bryan Avenue the morning of December 3, 2009.

Tustin police said the Scion was in the number two lane and the Mercedes was in the number one lane when the Honda Accord rear-ended the Scion shortly after the signal turn green. The Scion then spun and hit the Mercedes. The Honda’s driver was taken to the hospital with minor facial injuries. The driver of the Scion, a man, was taken to the trauma center, unconscious. It’s not clear whether the driver of the Mercedes was uninjured.

Orange County Car Accidents

There were two fatalities and 392 injuries involving car accidents in Tustin, according to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS). In Orange County as a whole, car accidents claimed 178 lives and injured 14,185 people during the same year.

My heart goes out to the injured driver of Scion, who seems to have suffered serious injuries including a possible head injury in this crash. I hope his injuries were not catastrophic and wish him the very best for a quick and complete recovery.

Car Accident Liability Issues

Based on this news report, the Honda crashed into the back of the Scion with considerable force. Apparently, after the collision, the license plate of the Scion was imprinted backward into the hood of the Honda. If the details of this news report are accurate, the driver of the Honda could not stop her car for some reason. There are a number of questions that arise here. Was the Honda traveling too fast? Was the driver of the Honda distracted in some way that she did not notice the cars stopped for the light in front of her? Was the driver of the Honda under the influence?

If the person who was driving the Honda is found to have been negligent, then she could be held liable for the injuries caused. It seems to me that the driver of the Scion may have sustained serious injuries. In such cases, injury victims can seek compensation to cover medical expenses, lost wages, cost of hospitalization, therapy and other related damages.

The injured victim in this case would be well-advised to consult with an experienced Orange County personal injury lawyer, who will make sure that the victim’s rights are protected and that he receives fair compensation for his injuries, damages and loss. In any car crash that involves several parties, it is important for victims and their families to steer clear of insurance adjusters or the attorneys for other parties. Please do not sign papers or settlements without first consulting a knowledgeable car accident lawyer.
