A man was injured in an Anaheim car accident, which officials say involved three vehicles. According to The Orange County Register, the rollover accident occurred at the intersection of Ball Road and West Place near Disneyland, the morning of May 18, 2012. Officials say a red Acura Integra was cut off by a white Toyota Tundra at the intersection. The two vehicles collided and the Acura spun around, flipped on to its side and struck a black Nissan Frontier pickup truck. After being extricated by emergency crews, the driver of the Acura was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. It is not clear if the driver of the Tundra will be cited for the accident.

A 26-year-old man suffered severe injuries in an Orange County motorcycle accident after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. According to The Orange County Register, the solo motorcycle crash occurred early morning on May 17, 2012 near the Chapman Avenue off-ramp on the southbound 55 Freeway in Orange. California Highway Patrol officials received reports of the downed motorcyclist near traffic lanes. A Good Samaritan stopped to direct traffic around the motorcyclist. Officials say the man who was riding a 2004 Suzuki was transported to an area trauma center with major injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

Four people were injured in a Westminster car accident after a vehicle that was evading authorities ran a red light and struck another vehicle. According to The Orange County Register, the collision occurred the morning of May 16, 2012. Officials say Santa Ana police started pursuing a silver Dodge Caliber after the driver failed to stop. Undercover detectives attempted to stop the driver for traffic violations, but he fled. The driver ran a red light at Bolsa Avenue and Beach Boulevard and struck a pickup at high speed. Three people were in the truck. In all, four people were transported to area hospitals here. The driver of the Dodge is expected to face criminal charges. An investigation is ongoing.

Leesa Lyon was injured in a dog bite incident after three loose pit bulls attacked her and her teen daughter as they were walking back to their apartment. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the dog attack occurred the night of May 14, 2012 in the 3900 block of Pierce Street. Officials say Lyon and her daughter were returning home from a high school awards ceremony. They got out of their car and were walking to their apartment when the three pit bulls charged at them. Witnesses who saw the attack called 911.

Lyon, who put herself between her daughter and the dogs, was bitten in the thighs and buttocks. The dogs have since been captured and quarantined. The dogs, all female, have not been spayed or vaccinated. They are also unlicensed, officials say. The dogs earlier attacked a man who was taking out the trash. The man apparently had to take cover in the dumpster. Officials have identified the dog’s owner as Trevor Casserly, a resident at the apartment complex where the attack occurred. It is not clear if Casserly will face criminal charges in connection with this dog attack.

A 4-year-old boy nearly drowned in a Los Angeles swimming pool accident that occurred during a gathering at a Woodland Hills home. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the near-drowning incident happened at a home on Burbank Boulevard in Woodland Hills, the evening of May 12, 2012. Officials have not released information regarding the circumstances of the accident, how long the child was underwater, or if there was adult supervision around the pool at the time. The child was airlifted to a nearby medical center where he was listed in fair condition.

William Donovan, 60, of Irvine was killed in a Santa Ana car accident when a metal object crashed through his windshield and struck him. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car crash occurred on the 55 Freeway near McFadden Avenue, the afternoon of May 11, 2012. Officials say Donovan was driving a Toyota in the number one lane when the debris went through his windshield. He sustained major head trauma and was pronounced dead at a nearby medical facility. Crawford Grant Reeves, 77, was killed in a Huntington Beach car accident after the parked car in which he was sitting was struck from behind by a tow truck. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal car accident occurred early morning on May 10, 2012 near the intersection of Springdale and McCarthy streets. Police say Reeves and his 13-year-old grandson were sitting in a Chevy Impala that was parked along Springdale Street when a 2011 Dodge Ram tow truck crashed into the back of the parked car. The driver of the tow truck was not injured. Reeves and his grandson were transported to an area hospital where Reeves died. His grandson did not suffer life threatening injuries. So far, no arrests or citations have been issued in connection with this fatal crash. An investigation is ongoing.

A 44-year-old driver suffered major injuries in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS news report, the major injury collision occurred at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Densmore Avenue, the evening of May 8, 2012. A Ford Ranger pickup truck slammed broadside into the driver’s side door of a white Toyota Tercel driven by the victim. The pickup rolled over, landed on its wheels and was seen leaving the scene. The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition. Police have described the suspect as a white man in his late-50s who drove a dark 2000s model Ford Ranger pickup truck. California Highway Patrol officials say the chain-reaction collision started when an OCTA bus rear-ended an Acura sedan on the freeway as it merged from the Harbor Boulevard on-ramp. The impact of the collision pushed the Acura into a Ford Mustang, which in turn crashed into a pickup. Three people were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Justin Messerschmidt, 22, of Huntington Beach, was fatally injured in a Los Alamitos car accident when the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado in which he was a passenger veered out of control and crashed into a tree. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the car crash occurred on the southbound 605 Freeway near Katella Avenue, the evening of May 6, 2012. California Highway Patrol officials say the 22-year-old driver from Long Beach was traveling at 50 mph in the number four lane when he made an unsafe turn and lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Messerschmidt was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the truck’s driver suffered major injuries.
