Three people, including two brothers, were seriously injured in a Los Angeles car accident after a car ran a red light and hit another vehicle. According to a news report in The San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the injury crash occurred the night of December 22, 2011 at the intersection of Azusa and Cameron avenues in West Covina. Police say that a Chevy Impala that was northbound on Azusa was speeding and struck a car that was preparing to make a left turn from Cameron to Azusa. The Impala’s driver, who ran the red light, is also suspected of being under the influence. He was hospitalized with injuries. Of the two brothers in the other car, one was critically injured and the other was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation is ongoing.

A motorcycle officer was injured in a Chula Vista car accident after a driver made an unsafe left turn in front of him, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The officer was on patrol southbound on Fourth Avenue, the morning of December 21, 2011, when a northbound motorist made a left turn across the officer’s path mid-block between H and I streets. Officials say the driver of the sedan was attempting to turn into the driveway of a business. The officer ended up striking the passenger side of the sedan and was thrown to the pavement. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was injured. It is not clear if the motorist will be cited in connection with this crash.

Anthony Medina, 22, was killed in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a KABC news report, the hit-and-run car accident occurred on Olympic Boulevard in East Los Angeles, the night of December 15, 2011. Medina was crossing the road when a 2008-2010 blue Subaru Impreza struck and fatally injured him. The family and the authorities are now requesting information regarding the whereabouts of the driver. A video of the crash has been posted online to get tips from viewers who recognize the vehicle.

Monica Varillas, 21, was injured in an Anaheim car accident, which officials say, was caused by a driver who made an unsafe left turn and also fled the scene. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred the morning of December 19, 2011 at the intersection of Euclid Street and Catherine Drive. Police say Varillas was driving a Honda Civic south on Euclid Street with her 1-year-old child.

A Chevy Cavalier made a left turn in front of the Civic at the intersection. The male driver of the Cavalier abandoned his car about 50 feet from the Civic and walked away from the scene. Varillas was hospitalized with injuries, but the child was uninjured. Officials are still looking for the hit-and-run driver. He was last spotted at a 7-Eleven market near the scene of the crash.

Ten people were injured in a Los Angeles car accident, which officials say, involved nine vehicles. According to an ABC News report, the injury crash occurred the afternoon of December 18, 2011, at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Vernon Avenue in Leimert Park. Police say a silver Chevrolet pickup truck was northbound on Crenshaw and traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with two vehicles that had slowed down for the traffic light at Vernon. The Colorado pickup truck crashed into the back of a small Chevy sedan and a Ford SUV, which triggered a chain-reaction collision with several other vehicles. One person had to be extricated. One woman broke her ankle while two others suffered critical injuries. No charges have been filed pending an official investigation.

A Long Beach police officer was injured in an Orange County car accident after a Toyota Corolla crossed double yellow lines and hit him. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the motorcycle accident occurred on the westbound 91 Freeway near Magnolia Avenue in Buena Park, the morning of December 15, 2011. Officials say the police officer was riding between the fast and the carpool lanes when the Corolla changed lanes to exit the carpool lane, crossed over double yellow lines and struck him. The motorcyclist suffered injuries to his right arm and was transported to a nearby hospital. It is not clear if the car’s driver will be cited for making an unsafe lane change and crossing double yellow lines.

A 17-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were seriously injured in a Victorville car accident after they were struck by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk. According to a news report in the Victorville Daily Press, the pedestrian accident occurred the night of December 13, 2011, when the teen was pushing the child in a stroller and crossing Seventh Street and Desert Knolls Drive at the light.

A 62-year-old man made a left turn from Desert Knolls Drive onto Seventh Street and hit the girl and the child. After striking the victims, the driver dragged the stroller for a short distance. The girl suffered cuts and scrapes, while the child sustained a fractured skull. The driver remained at the scene and talked to police. No arrests have been made pending an official investigation.
