A 47-year-old bicyclist was killed in an Orange County car accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver, the night of December 13, 2011. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the bicycle accident occurred at the intersection of Serrano Road and Ridge Route in Lake Forest. Police say the male bicyclist was hit by a white van. The hit-and-run vehicle was last seen leaving the crash northbound on Serrano Road. The bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with massive head injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Anyone with information about this fatal hit-and-run accident is asked to contact investigators at 855-847-6227.

At least two people were injured in a Costa Mesa car accident, which involved three vehicles, near Orange Coast College. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury crash occurred the afternoon of December 12, 2011 close to the intersection of Fairview Road and Merrimac Way. After the initial collision, one of the vehicles struck a speed limit sign on the side of the roadway, before crashing into a telephone pole. Officials say the three-car accident, involving a Chevy Silverado pickup truck, a Honda Pilot SUV and a station wagon, injured three people two of whom were transported to a local trauma center. Police are still trying to determine if slick roadways may have contributed to the crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Celia Torres, 73, and her grandson, David Gonzalez, 16, were killed in a San Diego car accident, which police report, involved a drunk driver. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the fatal DUI collision occurred on state Route 125 outside of Fletcher Hills, the night of December 9, 2011. Officials say Celia Torres was traveling at approximately five miles per hour in heavy traffic when a truck slammed into the back of her Nissan Pathfinder. The collision set off a chain-reaction crash involving four vehicles and resulted in two vehicles becoming engulfed in flames.

Celia Torres and David Gonzalez were trapped inside the Nissan Pathfinder and “burned to death within a minute.” The driver of the truck, Justin Foulds, 39, of Lemon Grove, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter. Foulds told officials that he had just attended an office Christmas party.

A motorcyclist sustained severe injuries in an Escondido car accident after he was hit by a vehicle that was making a turn. Stuart Lessig and his wife, Elizabeth, both 24, of Fallbrook, were seriously injured in a San Diego car accident, which officials say, involved a drunk driver, the evening of December 7, 2011. According to a news report in The San Diego Union-Tribune, the injury motorcycle crash occurred at the intersection of South Mission Road and Almond Street in Fallbrook. Police say Stuart Lessig was driving his 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle in the southbound lane of on South Mission Road when he was hit by a Mazda B2300 pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Randall Arnold. Officials say Arnold made a left turn in front of Lessig’s motorcycle. Lessig and his wife were thrown onto the roadway and sustained major injuries. Arnold suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A construction worker suffered serious job injuries after falling at the site of Newport Beach’s future city hall building. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the construction accident occurred the morning of December 6, 2011 in the 1100 block of Avocado Avenue. Officials say the male worker fell about 30 feet and was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment. The worker was said to have been in “stable” condition when he was transported to the hospital. Cal-OSHA is expected to investigate this incident. Details about how the worker fell were not released.

Denley Angeles, 18, was killed in an Anaheim car accident after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a busy roadway to catch a bus. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred the morning of December 1, 2011 at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue. Police say Angeles had just gotten off a bus and was trying to cross the street to catch another bus when a Toyota Camry hit her.
