Police are searching for a driver who struck and killed a bicyclist later identified as 46-year-old Blake Finley. According to a KTLA news report, the owner of a white 2010 Toyota Tacoma was making a delivery in the 900 block of Wilshire Boulevard when he was approached by someone who asked him for a ride the morning of Jan. 16. Police said when the pickup owner refused, the person got into the vehicle, locked himself in and took off at a high speed. The owner who had climbed on the bed of the truck in an attempt to stop the thief, jumped off fearing for his life, officials said. Continue reading →

Garrett Ryder Wade, 18, was killed in an Irvine motorcycle accident after a vehicle struck him near a street intersection. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the morning of Jan. 15 near the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Kazan Street. The motorcyclist, identified as Wade, was transported to an area hospital where he died. The driver of the car that collided with the motorcycle Wade was riding, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. No arrests or citations were reported pending an ongoing investigation. A woman was fatally struck and injured in a pedestrian accident in Lancaster, which officials say was the second vehicle versus pedestrian incident in five days in the area. According to the Antelope Valley Press, the collision occurred the evening of Jan. 10 on 20th Street West, south of Avenue I. Preliminary investigations show that a man driving a Ford Escape was traveling north on 20th Street West when he struck the pedestrian. She was walking across 20th Street West. A woman suffered major injuries and is still in a serious condition after a freeway crash on New Year’s Eve. Elizabeth Roberts, 55, of Lake Elsinore was severely injured in a wrong-way crash on the 215 Freeway in Menifee on Dec. 31. Her partner tells The Press-Enterprise that her “whole body broke” in this horrific crash. Roberts remains hospitalized. As of Jan. 9, she had undergone five surgeries to treat 10 significant injuries, some of which were “life-altering,” according to long-term partner Nicole Apodaca. Continue reading →

LAPD officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying a hit-and-run driver who severely injured a person who was fixing a bicycle in South Los Angeles. According to a KTLA news report, the crash was reported about noon Jan. 4 near the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Nevin Avenue in the Central Alameda neighborhood. Francisco Deluna, 49, was killed in a car accident in Lake Elsinore, which officials say, was caused by a driver who was under the influence. According to a City News Service report, the fatal crash occurred the night of Jan. 8 near the Railroad Canyon/Diamond Road exit. California Highway Patrol officials said Deluna, who was driving south in a 2020 Nissan Versa, slowed down because of a traffic break ahead. LAPD officials are seeking information about a man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a woman severely injured in Boyle Heights. According to a KTLA news report, the major injury collision occurred the evening of Dec. 19 as a couple was crossing the street at the intersection of Soto Street and Cesar Chavez Avenue. The driver of a white pickup truck was westbound on Cesar E. Chavez and turned left onto Soto Street crashing into the woman and knocking her onto the street. A man in a wheelchair was fatally injured after a vehicle struck him when he was crossing a street in Santa Ana. According to a KTLA news report, the incident occurred at 100 N. Euclid Street the morning of Dec. 29. Santa Ana police officials said they found the man in the roadway suffering from major injuries and began to treat him.
