Richard “Richie” Martinez, 3, is in critical condition after a hit-and-run driver struck and critically injured the toddler as he was trick-or-treating in San Bernardino on Halloween night. Manasseh Marion, 32, of Long Beach and 23-year-old Kaylee Perez of Los Angeles were killed in a wrong-way crash on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach, which also left seven others injured. A 61-year-old woman was killed in a Long Beach pedestrian accident when she was struck by a vehicle that went out of control after colliding with another vehicle the afternoon of Oct. 30. According to a news report in the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the initial collision between the two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and 7th Street. The woman died at the scene. A Garden Grove police cruiser was involved in a three-vehicle crash that sent four people to the hospital with injuries. According to a City News Service report, the crash occurred the afternoon of Oct. 26 at the intersection of Chapman Avenue and Haster Street. The police vehicle was eastbound on Chapman passing through a green light when it was struck by a vehicle whose driver ran a red light, police officials said. Motorcyclist Sought in Sylmar Hit and Run Crash That Injured Child
Police are searching for a motorcyclist who they say fled the scene after running over a 6-year-old boy who was riding a scooter. The incident occurred on the evening of Oct. 25 near the intersection of Cobalt Street and Encinitas Avenue in Sylmar. The child was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Briauna Ramirez, 18, was killed in a Lynwood DUI crash after the vehicle in which she was a passenger was struck by a wrong-way driver, who officials said, was under the influence. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, Ramirez had just celebrated her 18th birthday and was among several passengers who were injured in the crash. She was in a vehicle that was traveling on the 105 Freeway in Lynwood early morning on Oct. 22 when someone driving the wrong way in a 1999 Honda crashed head-on into the vehicle in which Ramirez was riding. Guillermo Antonio Cartagena, 75, was killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing the street in El Sereno on the evening of Oct. 22. According to a KTLA news report, a 44-year-old man surrendered at the LAPD’s Hollenbeck station in Boyle heights the morning of Oct. 24. Authorities booked Oscar Suarez in connection with the hit and run that sent Cartagena to an intensive care unit with severe injuries. A man in his 20s was killed when he was struck by a pickup truck that rolled over in an incident that police are investigating as a street takeover crash early morning on Oct. 22 in Costa Mesa. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the pickup truck rolled over at the intersection of Sunflower and Hyland avenues during the early morning hours. Brandon Kimura, 34, was killed in a car accident near the 5 Freeway in Anaheim that involved six vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred the morning of Oct. 17 on northbound Euclid Street near the 5 Freeway when officials say, a Mercedes-Benz SUV crashed into traffic that was stopped at the intersection.
