A bicyclist who was riding with a group of cyclists suffered serious injuries the afternoon of Oct. 17 after he was struck by a motorcycle in Pacific Beach in San Diego. According to a City News Service report, the crash occurred at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Reed Avenue. A 23-year-old man riding a 2017 Harley Davidson Sportster was southbound in the 4200 block of Ingraham Street as a group of bicyclists was eastbound in the 1500 block of Reed Avenue. A 50-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Rialto. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, police found a man lying unresponsive in the area of Riverside Avenue, south of Merrill Avenue, the night of Oct. 12. Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene. Since the incident, investigators say they’ve analyzed debris at the scene, witness statements and a photograph, leading officials to suspect that a vehicle had struck the man as he crossed the street. A woman suffered fatal injuries in a violent car accident after a driver lost control of his SUV and plowed into a group of people dining outdoors at the Grand Century Mall in San Jose on Oct. 11. According to a report in the Mercury News, the woman was one of eight people – three women and five men – who were injured in the crash near McLaughlin Avenue and Story Road. Officials are looking for the driver and vehicle involved in an apparent hit-and-run crash that left one woman fatally injured in South Los Angeles. According to a KTLA news report, officers responded to the incident at the intersection of East 106th Street and South Avalon Boulevard the morning of Oct. 8 in the Green Meadows neighborhood. According to a KTLA news report, the boy’s mother Florencia Lopez said her son wanted to ride his bicycle alongside her when she walked to the bus stop the morning of Oct. 2. Los Angeles police officials have released surveillance video and images in their search for a hit and run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 27. According to a KTLA news report, officials were called to investigate the incident at the intersection of Fourth and Central Streets. A woman was killed in a car accident involving a large truck and several other vehicles including a Homeland Security vehicle. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal crash occurred on the morning of Sept. 29 in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway at Roxford Street. California Highway Patrol officials said a 7Up big-rig, a trash truck and a Homeland Security vehicle were all involved in the crash. A woman in a blue sedan was declared dead on the scene. Los Angeles police are looking for the driver of a Mercedes-Benz sedan involved in a hit and run crash earlier this month, which left a 70-year-old woman critically injured. According to a KTLA news report, the major injury collision occurred in Chinatown on Sept. 4. The victim was crossing Broadway Street at College Street with the “walk” signal when a black Mercedes struck her catapulting her into the air before she landed on the ground. City Councilman Gil Cedillo’s office has announced a $25,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the driver’s identification, arrest and conviction. Continue reading →

A suspected drunk driver crashed into a home in Pomona, killing 59-year-old Yolanda Bozonier, who was inside. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the crash was reported on the night of Sept. 17 in the 1100 block of Colony Driver near South Hamilton Boulevard. Officers arrived to find a car that was partially inside the house. The victim inside was trapped under the vehicle for at least 20 minutes and died at the scene. Continue reading →

A male pedestrian was struck and killed early morning on Sept. 20 by a suspected DUI driver. According to a City News Service report, 30-year-old Elizabeth Landess of Long Beach was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. The incident occurred just after midnight in the 15900 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Officers who arrived at the scene found the pedestrian unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene. After an investigation, the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
