Richard Urzua, 54, was severely injured in a Los Angeles hit and run crash, leaving him in a coma. According to a KTLA news report, Urzua was on his way to buy food and medicine for his parents when he was hit while crossing the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Indiana Street the afternoon of Sept. 13. Woman and Unborn Child Killed in During Police Chase Involving DUI Suspect
A woman and her unborn child were fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver who was being chased by Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies in Lancaster. According to a KTLA news report, the DUI suspect fled after the deadly collision, which happened shortly after deputies began chasing the individual’s Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. The crash occurred on the night of Sept. 7. Video footage captured by a freelance photographer shows both cars ended up on the sidewalk, with the pickup on its side near a traffic light, and the victim’s vehicle mangled and overturned near a fire hydrant. Pedestrian Killed in Lancaster Car Accident
One person was killed and another suffered major injuries in a Lancaster car accident. According to a news report in the Antelope Valley Press, the incident occurred on the morning of Sept. 4 as two pedestrians were crossing Avenue L east of 47th Street West in the Antelope Valley. Officials say a Lake Hughes resident driving a 2012 Toyota Prius was westbound, east of 47th Street West, traveling at about 40 to 50 mph. Woman and Dog Killed in Costa Mesa Hit-and-Run Crash
A Newport Beach woman who was walking her dog the morning of Sunday, Sept. 6, was struck and killed by a man who ended up leaving the scene of the crash. According to a news report in the Orange County Register, the woman was walking her dog and crossing the street at Irvine Avenue and Mesa Drive when the driver of a silver Hyundai sedan ran a red light and struck her. A 72-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal Westlake hit and run collision. According to a KTLA news report, Ramiro Vincente Torres was taken into custody the night of Aug. 27 after he was alleged to have fatally struck a woman earlier that morning on Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street. Man Killed in La Puente Hit-and-Run Crash
Officials are looking for a hit and run driver who they say struck and killed 82-year-old Ramon Reyno the morning of Aug. 24 in La Puente. According to a KTLA news report, officials say Reyno was walking along Valley Boulevard west of Giano Avenue when a pickup truck struck him. The vehicle was traveling west on Valley Boulevard when it veered right, crossed over the sidewalk and hit the pedestrian. Reyno was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.
