A worker at a construction site was injured after a car crashed into the site and knocked the worker into a 20-foot-deep hole. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred at the intersection of State College Boulevard and Ball Road the night of July 29. The man had been performing shoring work in preparation for sewer reconstruction Anaheim fire officials said. The driver crashed into the construction site hitting some equipment. Two pedestrians were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run crash in Palm Springs the evening of July 27. According to a report in the Desert Sun, a black sedan struck the pedestrians as they walked in a marked crosswalk on Calle Encilia between Andreas and Amado roads. The driver of the vehicle did not stop. But, he was found a short distance away and was stopped and detained by police. Darren Kritzberger, a body shop worker, and his dog, were killed when an out-of-control SUV careened off a freeway in Beaumont and slammed into his business. A driver suspected of being under the influence of alcohol when her car crashed into a South Los Angeles apartment has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. According to a KTLA news report, Nicole Marks, 44, was sleeping next to her 4-year-old daughter in their apartment when a car slammed into her bedroom in a building near Main Street and 87th Street Place. A 2-year-old boy was killed by his family’s dog when he was playing in the backyard of his Modesto home. According to a news report in The Modesto Bee, the boy was in the backyard of his home in the 1900 block of Pine Street when the dog, a mastiff/pit bull mix, attacked him. Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department officials said they are not sure whether the boy was alone in the backyard and what the dog and the boy were doing in the moments before the attack. A man was critically injured in a hit-and-run car accident in Santa Ana while crossing a street in a wheelchair late night on June 28. According to a KTLA news report, officers responded to the intersection of First and Townsend streets to find the victim lying in the roadway with weak vital signs.
