A Long Beach car accident involving two vehicles including one driven by a 90-year-old Los Alamitos woman, has left a 91-year-old man dead and eight other people injured. According to a KTLA news report, the car accident occurred the morning of June 27 along Long Beach Boulevard, just south of 44th Street. Police say a 90-year-old woman was at the wheel of a 2015 Kia Rio with 91-year-old Howard Schaack riding as a passenger. Pedestrian Killed in Third Fatal Hit and Run Along Pacific Avenue in Long Beach
Elyssa Negrete, 30, was killed in a pedestrian accident in Long Beach, which officials said, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a KTLA news report, Negrete was crossing Pacific Avenue at Burnett Street in a marked crosswalk when a car fatally struck her. Negrete was transported to an area hospital where she died from her injuries. A man walking alongside Negrete in the crosswalk was also hit and critically injured. Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Motorcyclist During Downtown Los Angeles Police Pursuit
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a speeding motorcyclist who was trying to evade law enforcement officials in downtown Los Angeles. According to a KTLA news report, California Highway Patrol officers tried to stop the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 250 motorcycle for running a red light in an unincorporated area of Whittier the night of May 30. The motorcyclist, later identified as 27-year-old Brian Jesse Leon of East Los Angeles, refused to stop and led authorities on a pursuit that spanned the 605, 5 and 101 freeways at speeds over 100 mph. Family of Three Injured in Log Ride Accident at Castle Park in Riverside
A family of three was injured, the mother critically, when a log ride malfunctioned at Castle Park in Riverside the afternoon of May 26. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the apparent malfunction caused one of the cars to come down a ramp at a high rate of speed ejecting an individual off the ride. The height from which the mother was ejected from the ride was not clear. The log came to a stop where the water was not deep. The mother, father and daughter were all transported to an area hospital. Officials said the injuries appeared critical and that the mother was still “responsive” when she was transported. Elderly Man in Wheelchair and His Caretaker Injured in Costa Mesa Pedestrian Accident
A 72-year-old man in an electric wheelchair and his caretaker were struck and injured by a dump truck in Costa Mesa. According to a KTLA news report, the truck hit the man and a 53-year-old woman, an Anaheim resident, while they were crossing the street at Anaheim Avenue between 19th Street and Plumer Street the afternoon of May 22. Man Killed in Anaheim Motorcycle Accident
Adrian Zazueta, 22, was killed in an Anaheim motorcycle accident after crashing into a sedan at a street intersection. According to a report in The Orange County Register, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred at the intersection of Western and Orange avenues. Paramedics attempted to revive Zazueta, but he died from his injuries at the scene. Officials said drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the collision. Driver Sought in Fatal Compton Hit and Run Crash
Officials are looking for a hit-and-run driver who fled on foot after a fatal car accident in Compton the night of May 6 that killed 20-year-old Jennifer Lopez. According to a KTLA news report, the collision occurred as the victim was driving eastbound on Alondra Boulevard in a black Nissan Altima. A man in a blue Mitsubishi who was heading south on South Bullis Road at the same time slammed into the Nissan in the intersection. Surveillance video captured the moment of impact. Woman Distracted by Pet in Car Causes Crash in Orange County
A driver who seemed to have been distracted by her pet Yorkie jumping inside her car crashed into the patio of a home in Orange the night of May 1. According to a news report in the Orange County Register, no one was injured in the crash at a townhome complex at 5825 Creekside Avenue. There was minor damage to the fencing closing off the home’s patio and to the car’s front end. Police said the small dog jumped down from her lap to her feet and kept her from being able to apply the brakes. The black Mercedes drove into a carport and onto a hedge before it hit the fence. Elderly Man is Victim of Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Torrance
Ghulam Ali Khimani, 81, was killed in a Torrance pedestrian accident, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a KTLA news report, Khimani was walking in a crosswalk at Del Amo Boulevard and Mariner Avenue when he was fatally struck. Khimani was just down the street from a home, walking back from a prayer service at a community center when he was struck and killed, family members said. Police said the driver of the car that fatally struck Khimani did not stop at the scene. Instead the driver sped off, leaving the seriously injured man to die at the scene, officials said.
