Sladen John Mohl, 19, was killed in a Torrance pedestrian accident that involved three vehicles and according to officials, a 16-year-old driver who was under the influence, the Daily Breeze reports. The fatal incident occurred the night of April 18 at the intersection of Sepulveda and Hawthorne boulevards. When officers arrived, they found the injured pedestrian being treated by paramedics, but he died shortly afterwards from his injuries. A man is critically injured and fighting for his life after a hit-and-run crash in Westlake when he was struck by a car, which then sped away from the scene. According to a KTLA news report, LAPD has released a graphic surveillance video of the incident, which occurred the night of April 13 at the intersection of 3rd and Witmer streets. A mother and her 3-year-old son in Vallejo were hospitalized with injuries after three dogs attacked them. According to a report in the Sacramento Bee, the horrific dog bite incident occurred the night of April 6. Neighbor Dorris Hutcherson told reporters that the dog attack was the worst thing she’d ever seen in her life. Fourteen people were injured, two critically, after a 15-passenger van collided with another vehicle in Lancaster the afternoon of April 6. According to a KTLA news report, passengers in the 15-passenger van had chartered it in Culver City for a trip to Lancaster to view the poppy fields. A Santa Ana ceramic manufacturing company has been issued more than $250,000 in fines after an 18-year-old employee was killed while getting entangled in a clay machine that lacked safety guards. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) said the safety guards on the industrial mixer, also known as a pug mill, had been removed from the machine and the employee had not been trained to use at the time of the incident, which occurred on Sept. 20, 2018. Skateboarder Injured in Ventura Hit-and-Run Crash
A 14-year-old boy riding a skateboard was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Ventura the night of March 16. According to a KTLA news report, the 911 call about a hit-and-run came in around 10:16 p.m. in he 10900 block of Darling Road. The teen victim had sustained what were said to be “moderate” injuries, which weren’t believed to be life threatening. As many as 18 people were injured after four vehicles collided on the northbound 405 Freeway at the 605 Freeway the morning of March 13. An Anaheim Police Department employee sustained critical injuries when her vehicle was hit by a driver, who officials say, is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs the afternoon of March 9. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the suspect, 34-year-old Jose Alfredo Alcantar Garcia, earlier that day was involved in an unrelated incident in which he struck another vehicle and fled the scene. Two Injured in Sylmar Three-Car Accident
A man leaving a Sylmar pot dispensary in his car t-boned a passing vehicle, pushing that sedan into oncoming traffic and sending the husband and wife inside to a hospital with critical injuries. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, the crash occurred in the 12700 block of West Foothill Boulevard and left the couple with life-threatening injuries. It took firefighters 45 minutes to free the couple from the vehicle. They had to remove the entire top of the vehicle to extricate the injured man and woman.
