Buena Park police have arrested a man who was believed to have been under the influence of marijuana when he fatally struck 51-year-old San Tec Tamayo. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred the night of June 23. Officers found Tamayo unresponsive. He had been hit while crossing the street with his family in a marked crosswalk at Western Avenue and Jackson Way. Dogs Attack Mother and Toddler in San Diego County
Two dogs were seized and placed under quarantine in La Mesa after they escaped from a backyard kennel and jumped over a fence attacking a mother who was pushing her 2-year-old son in a stroller. A 39-year-old man identified by the Orange County Coroner as Tarun Katara of Irvine and his 3-year-old son were killed in a Seal Beach crash after they exited their disabled SUV on the 405 Freeway and were struck by another vehicle early morning on June 15. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the incident occurred on the freeway just north of Seal Beach Boulevard. Woman Killed in Rowland Heights Hit-and-Run Crash
A 75-year-old woman was fatally injured in a hit-and-run car accident in Rowland Heights the night of June 11. According to a news report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the incident occurred in the 1800 block of South Saleroso Drive at Rio Bonito Drive. The woman who was crossing the street with her husband was struck by a 2009 Pontiac G6, which left the scene after the collision. Christopher Frushon was only 19 and days after from his high school graduation when he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Compton. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, Frushon was walking across Wilmington Avenue in a marked crosswalk near Stockwell Avenue when he was hit by a car and launched into the air. Suspected Drunk Driver Fatally Injures Two Construction Workers in Orange
Two construction workers – James Sanderson, 35, and Elias Juarez, 50 – were killed in an Orange car accident after a man suspected of driving under the influence struck them. According to a news report in the Orange County Register, Sanderson and Juarez were working with a crew and a pickup truck was stopped in the bike lane on Santiago Canyon Road just east of Jamboree Road the night of June 1. A boy suffered severe injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Pacoima the evening of May 15. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the boy was walking home from Pacoima Elementary School at the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Montague Avenue when the collision occurred. According to LAPD, a van that was northbound on Laurel Canyon rear-ended a 2006 Kia Spectra. Man Charged in Fatal Irvine Crash Had Two Prior DUI Convictions
A Santa Ana man who had two previous DUI convictions has been charged with second-degree murder for allegedly plowing into a family of four in Irvine killing Jeongmi Choi, 44, and injuring her husband and their two children, 18 and 15. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the family was walking on a sidewalk near Turtle Rock Drive the night of May 16 when 37-year-old Kamal Akwette Attoh swerved off the road and hit them with his 2012 BMW sedan. Choi was killed. Her husband suffered a ruptured spleen and other serious internal injuries. David Slavitt, 32, suffered major injuries in an Antelope Valley car accident after he crashed into a large truck in Llano April 22. According to a KTLA news report, the incident occurred a the intersection of 165th Street East at Avenue T when they say Slavitt was video blogging on his YouTube account where he has more than 1,500 subscribers.
