The family of 22-year-old Fredrick Frazier who was killed in a bicycle accident involving a hit-and-run is pleading with the driver who left the scene to turn herself in and be held accountable. According to a news report in the Los Angeles Daily News, Frazier was riding his bicycle and had just turned right onto eastbound Manchester Avenue from Normandie Avenue when he was struck by a Porsche Cayenne traveling at a high rate of speed east on Manchester the afternoon of April 10. Toddler Nearly Drowns in Orange County Swimming Pool Accident
A 2-year-old child was rescued by a family member after nearly drowning when the child fell into a backyard swimming pool. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the near-drowning experience occurred April 6 at a home in the 32000 block of Lomita Drive in Rancho Santa Margarita. Three Killed in Suspected DUI Crash in Huntington Beach
Three Las Vegas residents were killed and a fourth person was critically injured in a Huntington Beach car accident when the vehicle in which they were traveling was rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the accident occurred on Pacific Coast Highway. Police found a red Toyota engulfed in flames. Four Students Injured in Pedestrian Accident in Paramount
Four students were injured in a pedestrian accident after a teen driver struck them at an intersection in Paramount right outside their high school. According to a KTLA news report, the students had just gotten out of school the afternoon of March 19 and were near the intersection of Rosecrans and Downey avenues outside Paramount High School when they were hit by a pickup truck that went out of control. A 33-year-old woman was arrested after she left the scene of a Costa Mesa car accident that resulted in injuries to a bicyclist. According to a KTLA news report, Pratiti Renee Mehta, 33, has been charged with felony hit and run resulting in injury. Her arrest came after details about the incident were posted to social media, police officials said. Aliso Viejo’s Police Chief Seriously Injured in Car Accident
Three people, including Aliso Viejo’s police chief, were injured in a car accident in the area the morning of Feb. 28. According to a news report on Patch.com, the city’s chief of police services, Lt. John MacPherson, suffered serious injuries just before he was about to retire from his job. The incident occurred at the intersection of Alicia Parkway and Pacific Park Drive and involved five vehicles. It was triggered by a driver who ran the red light, officials said. The severity of the other injuries was not known. California Highway Patrol officials are investigating the incident. It is not known if the driver who caused the accident has been cited or arrested. Man Arrested One Year After Major Injury Hit and Run Crash in Orange County
Officials arrested 53-year-old Timothy Anthony Cronin of Laguna Niguel on suspicion of hit-and-run exactly one year after he struck and seriously injured a bicyclist. According to a news reporter in The Orange County Register, Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials made the arrest on Feb. 4 Super Bowl Sunday. One year ago, on Feb. 5, 2017, a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle at Niguel Road and Ridgeway Avenue in Laguna Niguel. Man Killed in Santa Ana Pedestrian Accident
A man was killed in a Santa Ana pedestrian accident the morning of Feb. 7 after a car struck him while he was crossing the street. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Bristol and First streets. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Based on the preliminary investigation, officials say the pedestrian was walking east across Bristol in the crosswalk.
The vehicle was headed north on Bristol when the collision occurred. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Investigators don’t believe alcohol or drugs played a part in this fatal crash. No arrests or citations were reported pending an official investigation. Continue reading →
Three Pedestrians Injured in Glendale DUI Hit and Run Crash
Three pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a driver who officials say was under the influence and was fleeing the scene of another crash nearly struck them. According to a KTLA news report, 32-year-old Luis Tecun allegedly crashed his 2011 Camaro into a vehicle on Brand Boulevard and Harvard Street the night of Jan. 27. He drove away from the scene with the victim trailing behind him. Tecun then allegedly crashed into a parked vehicle at Brand and Maple Street. The impact caused his car to jump the curb and almost strike four pedestrians who were on the sidewalk. Continue reading →
Federal Agencies Launch Probe into California Tesla Crash
Two federal agencies have sent out teams to investigate the California crash of a Tesla Model S electric car that may have been operating under its semi-autonomous “Autopilot” system. According to a report in the Claims Journal, this is the second time the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have investigated the performance of Tesla’s Autopilot, which is supposed to keep a vehicle centered in its lane and set a distance from cars ahead.
