A 64-year-old man in a wheelchair suffered fatal injuries after he was struck while on a sidewalk by a car that was involved in a chain-reaction collision. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue the afternoon of August 15, 2017. The man was transported to an area hospital where he died.

Officials say an Acura and a Nissan Murano were traveling south on Beach when the Acura collided with the Nissan. The Acura went out of control, traveled up the curb and ran over the man, police said. It is not clear if alcohol or drugs were involved. No arrests or citations were reported. Tasha Turner, 30, drowned in a boating accident as she took a trip with her daughter and boyfriend on the Colorado River. According to a KTLA news report, the three had set out on a 19-foot closed-bow vessel with three other passengers to go tubing on August 5 near the town of Big River on the California-Arizona border. Police say the boat was driven by 52-year-old Umberto Bagnara. Around 6:30 p.m. that say the boat lost power, became swamped and began to sink.

Grayson Brown, 2, died from injuries he suffered in a swimming pool accident on August 6, 2017 in an unincorporated areas outside of Santa Ana. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the boy was pronounced dead on August 8. He was discovered in a residential swimming pool in the 13000 block of Hewes Avenue.

When Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived, the boy was not breathing and had no pulse. Rescue personnel were able to perform CPR and resuscitate the child. However, he died two days later from his injuries. Officials say there was no fencing around the pool where this tragic drowning occurred. Two people were killed and six others, including two children, were injured when a large truck crashed on State Route 125 in La Mesa. According to an NBC news report, California Highway Patrol officials say the big rig was getting onto the southbound SR 125 from the westbound Interstate 8 the afternoon of August 3, 2017 when the truck driver lost control. A male motorcyclist was killed in a car accident in Winnetka, which officials say, involved a hit-and-run driver. According to a CBS Los Angeles news report, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred the night of August 1. Officials say a black sedan was making a left turn onto Oakdale Avenue from Sherman Way when it collided into a motorcycle. The impact sent the motorcycle careening into a parked van. A car accident in Irvine fatally injured two women – identified as Jamie R. Lopez, 26, of Santa Ana, and Nancy A. Ortiz, 26, of Garden Grove — and a man critically injured. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the crash occurred on northbound Jamboree Road between Main Street and Kelvin Avenue the evening of July 22, 2017. A Chevy Corvette went out of control and sheared a fire hydrant.

Police say two women in a Chevy Corvette were pronounced dead at the scene while a male occupant was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The cause of the accident is under investigation. At least seven people were injured in a two-car crash resulted in one of the vehicles crashing into a Starbucks in Valley Glen. Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies are looking for a hit-and-run suspect who they say was involved in a car accident in Lancaster that left an 11-year-old girl dead. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the incident occurred around midnight on July 18, 2017 at the intersection of 20th Street East and Lancaster Boulevard. Officials said the 11-year-old girl was a passenger in one of the vehicles and sustained serious injuries in the crash.

A family of six riding in a minivan was injured in a car accident, which officials say, was caused by a driver who was fleeing a road rage incident. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the first crash occurred when a man drove an SUV into another car the afternoon of July 10, 2017 at the intersection of Bolsa Chica Road and Warner Avenue. After that collision, the man drove the SUV east on Warner, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a minivan that was leaving a parking lot near Warner and Springdale Street.

The SUV’s driver had to be extricated from his vehicle and was hospitalized for injuries. All six people in the minivan were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries. At least two of the seven who were injured were sent to local trauma centers, which suggests they may have suffered more serious or critical injuries. No arrests or citations were reported.
