A 48-year-old Jurupa Valley man was arrested on suspicion of a felony hit-and-run crash that critically injured a 7-year-old girl. Three Killed, Several Injured in Suspected Commerce Street-Racing Crash
Three people were killed and several others were injured, including four critically, in a suspected street-racing crash on the 5 Freeway in Commerce. According to an NBC Los Angeles news report, the crash was reported around midnight on February 27, 2016 on the northbound 5 Freeway near the Washington Boulevard exit. Hit-and-Run Crash in Stanton Proves Fatal
A man in his 50s was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Stanton the night of February 25, 2016. According to a report in The Orange County Register, the fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Cerritos Avenue and Sherrill Street. The vehicle did not stop, but was later found abandoned nearby with a damaged hood and windshield. Witnesses told police they saw a woman leaving the vehicle, but officials did not have a description. Man Injured in Brea Pedestrian Accident
A 24-year-old man was injured in a Brea pedestrian accident the night of February 18, 2016. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of North Brea Boulevard and East Lambert Road. The man was crossing Lambert against the light when the vehicle struck him. It is not clear in which direction the vehicle was traveling. The driver remained at the scene. Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash.

Man Killed in Boyle Heights Hit-and-Run Crash
True Cowan, 24, was killed in a Boyle Heights hit-and-run crash after a vehicle struck him. According to a KTLA news report, Cowan was struck at near the intersection of East Cesar Chavez Avenue and Chicago Street early morning on February 15, 2016. The victim was then dragged underneath the vehicle for more than 100 feet and his body only became dislodged when the vehicle drove into a driveway behind a business on Chicago Street.
The motorist backed out and fled northbound on Chicago without stopping to help the injured pedestrian. Cowan was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The police don’t have a driver description or a description of the vehicle. But, they suspect, the vehicle could have damage to the left front and undercarriage. Police were checking with local businesses in the area to see if the fatal collision was captured on any of the neighboring surveillance cameras. Continue reading →
Newport Beach Hit-and-Run Crash Proves Fatal
Christopher Roth, 24, was killed in a Newport Beach hit-and-run accident the morning of February 13, 2016. According to a report in the Daily Pilot, Roth was crossing at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and 30th Street when a 2007 Nissan 350z traveling south on Newport struck him. The driver did not stop. Roth was transported to a trauma center where he died of his injuries soon afterward.
The hit-and-run vehicle was found abandoned near 19th and Court streets, about half a mile from the scene of the crash. Police arrested Nancy Diana Flores, 21, of Paramount in connection with the hit-and-run. Police were unable to determine whether Flores was intoxicated at the time of the crash because they did not locate her in time to test her blood for alcohol. She was arrested on felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges. The crash is under investigation.

Teen Skateboarder Injured in Newport Beach Crosswalk Accident
A teen skateboarder was injured in a Newport Beach pedestrian accident after a vehicle struck him. According to a news report in the Daily Pilot, the collision occurred the morning of February 12, 2016 on Westcliff Drive near Rutland Road. Police say a 17-year-old male was riding a skateboard and was crossing in a marked crosswalk when a Porsche struck him. The teen suffered cuts and bruises and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The driver remained at the scene. No arrests or citations were reported. The cause of the pedestrian accident is still under investigation.

Suspected DUI Crash in Lake Forest Causes Injuries
Injuries were reported in a Lake Forest car accident, which officials said, was caused by a suspected drunk driver. According to a report in The Orange County Register, the injury collision occurred on the I-5 northbound, north of Lake Forest Drive. California Highway Patrol officials said Todd Davey, 47, of Buena Park, was driving a Toyota 4Runner, and for unknown reasons, lost control and collided with four other vehicles.
The crash caused the 4Runner to overturn onto the right shoulder. A pregnant woman in her 30s was involved in the crash as were four others. But officials said none of them suffered serious or life-threatening injuries. Davey was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Officials suspect Davey was under influence of drugs and alcohol.

School Bus Accident in Menifee Leaves Four Injured
Four people were hospitalized with injuries in a Menifee school bus accident after a school bus carrying students from Paloma Valley High School collided with a car. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the injury collision occurred at the intersection of Holland and Evans roads in Menifee. Officials say a black Nissan Sentra was traveling east on Holland Road when it collided with the bus as it made a left turn from Evans Road. Laguna Beach Car Accident Causes Major Injuries
Two people were seriously injured in a Laguna Beach car accident, which officials said, involved two vehicles. According to a news report in The Orange County Register, the major injury crash occurred the night of February 8, 2016 on Coast Highway near El Morro Elementary School between a Ford Explorer and a Dodge Grand Caravan. A man and a woman in the Explorer, ages 19 and 20, were both ejected from the SUV and seriously injured.
A 10-year-old girl and a 30-year-old person in the SUV had minor injuries. A 70-year-old woman in the Caravan, who was the sole occupant of that vehicle, also sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No citations or arrests were reported. The investigation is still ongoing.
