A worker suffered injuries on the job after he fell about 25 feet into the cargo hold of a ship, which was docked at the Port of Los Angeles.

According to a City News Service report in the Daily Breeze, the incident occurred the morning of June 16, 2014 at Berth 209 near the 1000 block of New Dock Street.

The worker, a man in his late 50s, fell into a very small area two levels below deck of the 623-foot bulk cargo vessel Navios Vector, a Panamanian-registered ship.

Edward Salkin, 81, of Corona del Mar, was killed in a Newport Beach pedestrian accident, which officials say, involved a suspected DUI driver.

A 4-year-old boy died in a swimming pool accident after he drowned in a spa pool located in the backyard of a home.

According to a KCAL9 news report, the incident occurred in the 2600 block of Mercedes Drive. The boy was trapped in the swimming pool when one of his hands got caught in a suction drain.

Fire officials said the boy’s great-grandparents were watching him and tried to rescue the child. It is not clear how long the boy was underwater.

Firefighters performed CPR on the boy and took him to the hospital where he later died.

Police are looking for the driver who they say struck two women in South Los Angeles and then took off. According to CBS Los Angeles, the injury collision occurred the night of May 17, 2014 near Colden Avenue and Figueroa Street. Officials say the two women were crossing the street when they were hit. The driver left the scene. The injured victims were transported to an area trauma center where they were listed in stable condition. Police say the car that hit them was a gray Honda.
