A 61-year-old woman was killed in a Long Beach pedestrian accident when she was struck by a vehicle that went out of control after colliding with another vehicle the afternoon of Oct. 30. According to a news report in the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the initial collision between the two vehicles occurred at the intersection of Cherry Avenue and 7th Street. The woman died at the scene. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Based on initial investigations, police believe the two vehicles collided at the intersection causing one vehicle to lose control, jump the curb and strike the pedestrian who was on the sidewalk. The woman was sitting on a bus bench when the collision occurred. There was no evidence that either driver was distracted or intoxicated, police said. No arrests were made or citations, issued.
