Terrell Conner, 26, was killed in a San Bernardino car accident after he was struck by a vehicle. According to a news report in The Press-Enterprise, the fatal hit-and-run collision occurred early morning on January 8, 2012 along Vineyard Avenue, near Ninth Street, in Rancho Cucamonga. Witnesses told officials that a Ford F-150 pickup truck was parked near the scene and that a man walked away from the victim toward the truck before driving away. Officials have not said this person is the hit-and-run driver, but they are saying that he is a “person of interest.” Anyone with information about this fatal accident is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at 909-477-2800.
My deepest condolences go out to the family members and friends of Terrell Conner following this tragic hit-and-run car accident. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), one person died and 22 were injured due to pedestrian accidents in Rancho Cucamonga. In San Bernardino County as a whole, 39 people died and 440 were injured in pedestrian accidents, during the same year.
Hit-and-Run
Based on this news report, it appears that Conner was fatally struck by a driver and left on the roadway. It is not entirely clear if there was more than one vehicle that hit Conner before he died. Whoever did this committed an appalling and heartless act. Leaving the scene of an injury crash is not only inhumane and irresponsible, but it is also illegal.
California Vehicle Code Section 20001 (a) states: “The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to a person, other than himself or herself, or in the death of a person shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the accident.”

I trust officials will promptly apprehend the hit-and-run driver and hold him or her accountable. If you have any information about this incident, please visit our web site at www.hitandrunreward.com to offer an anonymous tip and become eligible to receive a $1,000 reward.
Families of deceased hit-and-run victims would be well advised to contact an experienced San Bernardino personal injury lawyer, who will stay on top of the official investigation and make sure that their legal rights and best interests are protected. A knowledgeable car accident attorney will also advise victims’ families about how their own car insurance policy might apply to an incident where the suspect is never found, or, in a case where the at-fault driver is uninsured or underinsured.
