Three people were killed in a head-on Tulare County car accident in rural Tulare County the morning of June 6, 2007, The Fresno Bee reports. According to California Highway Patrol officials the Tulare County car accident occurred on a two-lane stretch of Highway 65 between Porterville and Bakersfield. Nancy A. Rodriguez, 31, of Bakersfield was driving south near Avenue 56 when her car crossed lanes into the path of an oncoming car.
The oncoming car was driven by another Bakersfield resident, 34-year-old Luz M. Carrillo. Her passenger, a 28-year-old man, was killed. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Rodriguez’s car had three passengers, of which two died. A 52-year-old woman was not buckled up, but the other passenger — a 40-year-old woman — was wearing a seatbelt. Also, the third passenger, 45-year-old Femina Maceda, survived and was taken to an area hospital with personal injuries.
My heart goes out to the families and friends of the three deceased victims in this horrific California car crash. I offer my deepest condolences to everyone who knew and loved these individuals. Please keep them in your prayers. I also wish the injured victims the very best for a speedy and complete recovery.
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2007 Statewide Integrated Traffic Reporting System, there were 76 deaths and 1,936 injuries involving auto accidents in Tulare County.
Based on this newspaper report, the person at fault appears to be Nancy Rodriguez, who for some unknown reason, veered into opposite lanes of traffic and caused this fatal car accident. I trust CHP officials are looking into how or why this car collision occurred. If this car accident was a result of Nancy Rodriguez’s negligence, she could be held liable for the car crash, personal injuries and fatalities caused.
