Car Accident Statistics
According to California Highway Patrol’s 2008 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS), 21 people were killed and 632 were injured in car accidents that occurred in the unincorporated areas of Ventura County. During that same year, there were 63 fatalities and 3,784 injuries reported as a result of Ventura County car accidents.
What Caused This Car Accident?
Investigators will have to determine what caused the driver to veer off the roadway and down the embankment. Did an auto defect or mechanical malfunction contribute to the crash? Did a dangerous roadway cause the vehicle to veer out of control? Was the guardrail inadequate to prevent the vehicle from sliding down the embankment? Was there a guardrail at that location? Did another motorist force the vehicle off the road and then leave the scene of the accident? I trust officials are looking into these and other issues in order to determine what occurred here and why.
